Occupy Wall Street

We want to know what you think about the Occupy Movement. Please tell us what you think of this video making it's rounds on YouTube this morning where former Florida Congressman Alan Grayson (D) tries to explain the goals of the movement on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher. Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.

I think that the occupy people are misguided, and politically motivated by the president and his people, unions and just an overall misconception of the real problem with our country and the government.

I think this Occupy movement is completley ridiculous. Not only are they costing the tax payers more money to clean up their mess how about they occupy a job, and do something useful to contribute to society. They look like a bunch of bums making our cities look like trash. What I think we should do is round all of the occupy protestors up, and put them in a concentration camp so they can work/build stuff, and do something useful with their pathetic lives.

That just makes me SICK!!!!!! Do NOT wear our military's uniform if you are in the Occupy movement. You sicken me. The Marine, AND ANY OTHER UNIFORM, is to be respected. You sicken me you hippie ass punk!!!!!! The men and women in our military are the ones who fight and defend your rights, and you are going to wear their uniform and make a mockery of them!!!!!
This whole movement is misguided and in my opinion it is hypocritical.

I was present this morning at the port of Long Beach march and picket. While I read that some lost souls are angry and maybe they did lose a day's wage, we were voicing our concerns for hundreds of thousands of people who have lost their jobs and homes and also for social and economic justice in an unjust world. While those lost souls may not see the bigger picture we are fighting for them also. We are not angry at those people we just feel they are confused. The reason why we chose the ports is because this is where we can effect the super rich, those who are unpatriotic by not paying their fair share of taxes. This is a message to the super rich. The poor & middle class are used in wars and we do their cheap labor. When they don't need the workers, the corporations go overseas to hire cheap labor. We end up buying those goods that the cheap labor made thus puting ourselves out of jobs.
Our economic system including banks are de-valuating our money because of their economic schemes to defraud our economy. We have politicians that don't represent the people. They only look out for the best interest of the rich and super rich not the middle & lower classes.

I am dismayed at the lack of any clear agenda for the occupy movement. Everyone of the so called experts have a different opinion and the people on the streets are trying to focus the attention on the millionaires and billionaires who they are saying do not pay their fair share. What does the term fair share mean? If they make one hundred million per year should they pay ten million in taxes? Why? they stand in the same lines at the DMV and drive on the same tired roads as a person who pays ten thousand in taxes. Why do these people not protest the 48% of Americans who do not pay any taxes at all. I will tell you why. A majority of the occupy protesters are the ones who do not pay any taxes, they are the ones who want you and me to pay their way. Socialism here we come!

If you don't know what the Occupy Movement wants or stands for, you should educate yourself and find out. Unless your life is so perfect that you look down your nose at people less well off. My father was a Union Worker at a Steel Mill in the 50's to early 70's. On his meager salary, he was able to buy a modest house, he was able to take his family on a vacation every year. He was able to buy and replace things for the house. He had good Doctors and Medical insurance, He was able to put 2 children through college without taking out a loan, he had a good savings in the bank (He told me NEVER to invest in stocks because he lived through the Wall Street Collapse and Depression). There were no such things as credit cards back then, so my parents bought things on layaway or used cash. He taught me about how things were before the unions and how the middle class were taken advantage of, and how history has a good chance of repeating itself. AND my mother was a housewife and did not work. Can this happen today for most of the middle class? Not for the friends and people I know. So basically the middle class has less and less and less now than in the past. And the top 1% has more and more and more than the past. This IS Class Warfare. And I am on the side of the 99% and the Occupy Movement. (And this is not anti President Obama...It is Anti-bought and paid for politicians on BOTH sides.) Like I said, please Educate yourselves. And don't do it with right wing or left wings sites.

I support the protest as a war veteran i joined the army to defend my country against terrorism. But Im living proof that it is congress who is hurting our country because of their corrupt way. For example they swore to never raise taxes on the rich and now they are doing everything in their power to stop me from just being a regular citizen, also the Rebublicans should be overthrown out of office because they are trying to tax the poor peoples land and why are they illegally putting police equipment on civilians. I work for both the port and the army and I know how the republicans operate they only want whats best for themselves not the people and they can care less about veterans because they are taking away the benefits we have earned.

I have to ask if those that are making derogatory, negative comments have actually watched the video above this thread. For those of you that are so against this movement and all of us who choose to be a part of it, I can only say please understand that what you are judging so harshly is the image of Occupy. I am in Australia and I am a 49 year old self-employed mother of four. I do not need to 'get a job' or any of the other things that have been suggested. I am working, paying taxes and raising a family. I support this movement because I totally agree that we all need to educate ourselves on what is really happening behind closed doors so that we can change what we leave for the generations that follow us. It really is time that we all take responsibility for what is happening to this world and the people living in it, both now and in the future.

Occupy Wall-Street movement has really hurt the economy. Even select stocks tumbled on the wake of the protest.
