I hope you don't sunbathe in the nude...

because I can see you up here! Currently, I'm about 1,000 ft. in the air over Los Angeles (hollywood hills, around sunset plaza). It's a typical Tuesday. I guess it is a touch nippy for tanning in the buff... but there's always summer to look forward to.
Ok, let me be honest, I've never seen anyone naked from way up here but that doesn't stop us from peeking at your pool hoping to catch a glimpse.
Our work day is almost over in the helicopter. It's a little after 8am.
My mornings are...well, a little different from the norm. I wake up in the middle of the night (I sleep until the very last second about 3:35am and then I sit up in bed staring at the wall in disbelief at what is happening for about 10 minutes and yes every morning I'm in disbelief), most mornings without coffee because even starbucks is two hours away from frothing their first latte and climb into a helicopter that goes hundreds of feet in the air to go look for car accidents.
I guess somebody has to do it because according to some stats car accidents happen about every 60secs here in LA.
But my favorite stuff...what I really love happens in between all the broken down big rigs and sig alerts. I get to see stunning sunrises, land on snow capped mountain tops (ok, we only did that once), buzz HUGE waves so low the mist hits the windshield and fly close enough to the Hollywood sign I can practically touch it!
The accidents, yeah we show those too but I hope you enjoy your sunrises every morning...especially if you have HD.
So next time you're in your car cursing the bumper to bumper mess on the 405 and the jerk who's switching lanes thinking he's going to get somewhere, think of me because I'm cursing it too, just not on TV!

p.s. Shout out to Sam, Colin, Warren, Todd, Ann, Nicole and of course the man who made traffic reporting cool...Commander Chuck

Dear Jessica,
Good morning :-)
I just have to say that when Webster's Dictionary has a description of "sunshine"... there I saw a portrait of you :-) !!! I think you do a GREAT job on your traffic reports and enjoy the KTLA Morning Show daily. I think you have a fun job flying around in Chopper 5. I would like to come on a flight with you someday :-) and see the sights you enjoy so often. Keep the sun shining as I always need a solar charge to keep MY day going :-) !!!

Jessica - you are a delightful member of the morning team. How do we get you in the studio everyday, full time?? Any chance you can take over for you know who?? Keep up the great work!!

Hi Jessica, regardless if you are in the air reporting the traffic conditions (if you mentioned that a major accident happened on the 405 we contact our niece Monique who lives in the Valley and works in Santa Monica), are reporting from Paris, or on the red carpet during the Oscars you are doing a SUPER JOB!!!!!
God Bless,
Axel & Kathie

Hey, Jessica! I was out there recently, from Florida, doing some work. I had the opportunity to catch your reports and must say that I love your style!! You are quite down to earth. Me and my boyfriend come to L.A. often for work and, you will definitely be part of our L.A. daily routine!

Jessica, Thank you! You do a great job. I want to ask your viewers to give a break to the street/fwy construction crews. Recognize they're trying to better our cities. I know it does slow us down from reaching our destination, only TEMPORARELY.

Not sure what ljr-yl's problem is...

You know Jessica, that works both ways. If only I knew the location of your outdoor tanning I might be tempted to rent a copter for a fly by or two.

Jessica, I absolutely love your style. You wear the cutest outfits (especially when you're in studio)..
I've been a long time viewer and I loved, loved the Jennifer York days.. I am happy they have found you to spark that fire Jennifer left behind!

Jez, I don't know where you've been lately, but there hasn't been a lot of opportunity for necked sunbathing around here the last couple months. My yellow lab, Eleanor, won't even get in the pool yet. Hey, if you see a white, black, red and grey Zodiac XL buzz by - that's me! You're always easy to spot with that "solar array" on your head.

Jessica..I'm a fan of yours from day one. I loved Jennifer York and her fly overs during "filthy back yards", the U.S. Bank building..that guy in his skivies looking out the window and Barbara Beck wondering if there was anyone in there with him..all that funny stuff, but I think you fit right into your job. You do a great job reporting traffic, and on occasion we get great views of the sun rising. Thanks for your great work.

That's crazy you're just getting up when I'm starting to go to sleep! Anyway, I love you on the show I wish you could be in the studio more often! Oh and please post pictures of you and Sam on the red carpet wearing that beautiful blue dress!

Jessica...Maybe KTLA can put a lazer on your helicopter to beam the idiot AM drivers putting on their makeup and on the phone!!LMAO On one of my morning commutes I saw a guy faxing!

I don't think "LJR-YL" should be talking so poorly about JESSICA, I've known a great deal of people from Cleveland OH "myself incluted" nothing but GREAT PEOPLE, the only thing Mr LJR-YL" did wrong other then speek badly about JESSICA is he left his name or something that can be traced.. If I were this LJP-YL I'd keep my coments to myself, "EERYBODY LOVES YOU MISS HOLMES...

hahha Hello Jessica...You are so cute in your little flying machine. This is so funny you had written about flying over the buildings checking stuff out...well I see you guys all the time up on Franklin where I have a tall building and nudes up on my building roof. They cover up when they hear the copters coming and I tell the "what the hell" flash them...Its so funny when the police copters go over and they get flashed, they return for several passes...hahaha .stay sweet girlie...

Hey there Jess, do you bring a little digital camera up in the chopper with you? I’m sure that, after a full year of telecopter reporting, you would have a coffee table book worth of amazing vistas. The ones you have pointed out for your videographer have always been spectacular.
Wishing that I could do the same,
magpie

In the morning i too wake up early- awaken by a similar divice- sit up and try to make sense of my awaken confusion. However, after reading your blog i have realized that those few minutes or seconds are the best of my day. They are not pressured and burdened by the hassels of everyday life, i mean sometimes you feel as youre still sleeping . being awake and yet not even begining to think. yup, a little moment of peace.

Jessica, you have grown into an amazing news and weather person. You are destined to go higher than the 1,000 feet you hit now. Come fly over Catalina Island sometime.
If we knew when, a lot of residents would be out on Crescent (the waterfront street/walkway) and wave at you. Give us a 24 hour heads up.
See you and the KTLA copter in the sky.

KTLA is the #1 news channel i watch in the morning. I have 3 kids and its hard to have to make breakfast and still be able to have the weather right to dress the kids. There is always 1 reporter that i look foward to hearing but i havent seen her. Kim Rouggie. I always look foward to her stories and because she is a great reporter!!
XOXO

Thats so true i havent seen Kim lately! BTW im 13 years old and as odd as that sounds im always looking foward to watching KTLA in the morning. Everybody is always happy and that really gives me a boost before i go to school. But most of all i like Kim Rouggie. Shes an amazing reporter and she gets all of the facts through to the audience but still in a fun yet serious way. And i havent seen her latley..... What a BUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jessica, I would love to go riding in the copter with you. You have been the breath of fresh air the KTLA morning news needed since Sharon Tay left. Keep up the great work. Yes, you're green, but you don't profess to be anything but who you are and you're a great developing personality. Let's go to lunch at Come Ca!!! Yuuuummmy! lol. Take care.
