TOO MUCH INFORMATION? [-or- "Diary of the Office Water Cooler"]

7:18 AM  April 2, 2008

We go to work and spend nine hours every day give or take with our comrades; spending more time with these people than with our wives, husbands, children and definitely our mothers. Yet how well do we really know our daytime associates? What about Hank, just two cubicles over with the 70's mullet, bad plaid jacket and tuna on wonder bread sandwich for lunch every single day? I'm sure he has a story. Compelling and riveting? Or just a basic bore?  What about the tall blonde in sales that you undress with your eyes every day. And you thought SWAT were the only ones who use special tactics.  You pop the breath mint, reel in some of the Budweiser overhang and saunter over with the fearless abandon of George Clooney - only to say "so... I hear we're getting wireless routers next month..."  You know she goes there "often" so that pickup line is dead.  Did you ever stop and think about having a real conversation with her that offers even a glint of untainted honesty?

Well KTLA wants you to know us better, and we have started to BLOG which has turned out to be quite an interesting social experiment. After just a couple of entries from each one of us, I feel we have collectively learned quite a bit about each other in a short time. Let's review.

Sam: just as confused about his religion as his sexuality. Mancation in Vegas? What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Thank God.

Jessica: despite her four foot five, ninety pound frame she loves to chow down and yet still can't get a date. Awkward  A bit of a "Peeping Tom" our Jessica. Neighbors close your curtains.
Frank: archetypical family man and great father. He had an amazing experience; in bed with 5000 sailors aboard an aircraft carrier. Oops... a typo. That was supposed to read "embedded" with sailors. My bad!

Eric: still angry!!!

Cher: hates Valentine's Day, loves vacation and watches Oprah.

Michaela: Knows how to have a good time in a trailer park, but don't ask her to drink the water.

You know, come to think of it maybe we'd be better off not knowing about our co-workers and lets just keep it to "how bout them Dodgers?" Our self-deprecation aside as we refer to ourselves on the Morning News as "The Land of the Misfit Toys," I love the gang as the unique though somewhat obtuse group they are.  How boring would it be if we were all the same cookie cutter, squeaky-clean personality? It takes a village to raise a Morning Show. And a righteous village we have. Minus the village idiot.  Well, no, we have that also.

To Sam, it's OK. Frank, anchors aweigh. Cher, embrace the love. Michaela, butterflies are free. Eric, breathe. Jessica, don't look.

Finally I must review what we have learned about Mark: well grounded, thoughtful, considerate and a great dancer not to mention writer.

Now wait a minute..that last line was written in the third person. "I must review what we learned about Mark..." Cute blog but did you write it?? Maybe we don't really know you Markie. Love ya anyhow..keep up the good work.

Mark, I never read blogs or post comments but I enjoy reading all of your blogs. I am new to KTLA morning show - 1year. I think you are all great. I especially love Frank and am fascinated by you. getting to know each and everyone of you makes you real as if you are a part of my life. I'd love to get to know Frank a little bit more since he's the new guy. My mornings are complete when I see you, Frank, and the rest of the misfits.

You are too much!!! Loved the comment about Michaela....LOL. hmmm....I think when she first started with KTLA, I saw her at a Ralphs grocery store in Burbank. Anyway....I enjoy reading everyones blogs (especially yours and Sams). I'm sure what ever issues the station is having with the 9:00am hour will be worked out like everything else that has gone on over the years. Tell everyone to keep up the good work and not to let any negative comments sting too badly.

Ann Onimous - low blow. Threatened by Jessica?

Meanwhile, Mark - "so... I hear we're getting wireless routers next month…" - wonderful, absolutely wonderful. I was ROTFL.

Your blog entries are yet another example of why your presence is so sorely missed during the "new" 9:00 hour.

Man... I am over here dying with laughter. I can't believe you actually wrote this LMAO

Nark Your the best. When your not on the show I miss you so much. You make up a great part of the show. Tell us little about yourself and your family. I do know you have children and you have been married more than once. What's the inside scoop. Your a great guy!!! Do tell......

Mark,
Your so funny...got love ya!!

A jab here, a jab there, a hook, another jab, a hook and Mark floors his co-workers in one blog. The winner, and still champ of the KTLA blogs, Mark Kristi. But I was wondering about that tall blonde you undress mentally. The only tall blonde we see on your show is the one who does the skits! Opps!!!

Hey, I moved to Washington and when I came back Barbara was gone. What happened? You three, Carlos included, made my morning. Now theres only you left. Haha!

Cindy, Cindy, Cindy....There have been major changes to KTLA. Barbara left, was replaced by Giselle Fernandez, who left and is now replaced by Michaela Pereira (who also has replaced the awesome Stephanie Edwards on New Year's Day for the Rose Parade.) Hal Fishman became very sick, and Carlos moved to the news @ 10 PM, then Hal passed away, and Carlos got an offer from FOX news @ 10 PM that he just couldn't refuse. Frank Buckley replaced Carlos on the Morning News and is doing a superb job, if I do say so myself! But, someone, some imbecile at KTLA started a new format with the 9AM show where he pulled all the men from the show, and has made it an Estrogen - disastrous rip off of "The View". It's horrible. We viewers are boycotting the 9 AM hour, writing their sponsors and doing everything humanly possible to get the new owner, management - whoever - to hear our plea. That I guess sums it up in a nutshell Cindy! Join our bandwagon and complain to KTLA about the CHANGE!

Mark - You sound much more intelligent in writing than you do on-air. Love you both ways! But your handsome face is a must see!!! I have been a fan from the beginning (back when Carlos and Barbara were still with you). – Melissa

Ah...the days of Carlos, Barbara, and Mark. Good times. Who was the traffic reported then? You know, the one who had so much plastic surgery she started looking like a blow-up doll? Oh yeah...Jennifer York. Scary.

People, you must go to Eric Spillman's blog posted today. Carlos Amezcua has finally spoken and his comments are brilliant!

Oh, Mark Oh Mark, my HERO of the Morning.

You made me laugh and it’s the middle of the afternoon...

Love you... I am so glad that Jessica didn't get your spot... she's OK for the 5 am to 6 am weather, but she doesn't have your abilities... she cute, but you are cuter.

Hugs and thanks for the laughs and OOOOH yeah... GREAT WEATHER, you are even better the Dallas Rains, or that other guy on that other channel, you know the guy who like art galleries.

I'm off... thanks again
Smooches your cute cheeks... OH and that person who said you had used too much BOTOX pffft, get a life, He is gorgeous.

Mark - I am currently watching around the water cooler and I haven't heard you say one good thing about any woman mentioned so far. Were you elected to put down women or everyone in general?

I know who Jessica should be with,, would love to see Jessica with Kurt the Cyber Guy. think they are both adorable and think they would have so much fun together,,what do you all think???

Regarding President Obama's TV appearances -
Remember that this President is very smart. Everything is does is with deliberation, intent and serves a purpose.

I think he wants us to notice the transparency in this administration and set a calming influence. Also because of the resistance from the republican side - he is going straight to the people.
