Michaela's Blog: back in the blogosphere

5:50 AM  June 23, 2008

Back after a short absence from the cyber-world.

Wanted to share a story about a friend.

She's likely the coolest, nicest, easy-going-est girl I know.  We'll just call her J.

I met J soon after I moved to LA. She's also from "away", she's from the Midwest. We immediately hit it off. Partly because we could bond over being new to the area, but mostly because she's just real.  You know what I mean when I say that. This is a girl that is unpretentious, very comfortable in her own skin and definitely knows how to laugh at herself.  To me, that's gold.  I've never seen her without a smile on her face. Now, don't think she's one of those "super happy cheery people" who seem like they are perpetually caffeinated.  No J truly has a love of life.  You immediately know you are in the presence of someone who has tremendous life force.

A couple of weeks ago, her sister in law - my dear friend left me one of those voice mails you always dread getting.  There was something in her saying "Michaela, call me tonight before you go to sleep." that made me believe something serious had happened. And it had.

J, our beautiful, athletic, joyful, huggable, capable, strong girl, had just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer... at age 31.

I know the statistics. I have read the research. I have attended the fund-raisers.  I get the fact that Breast Cancer is not picky and it's not fair. It can and will hit anyone... the young, the not so young, women AND men.

But a 31 year old woman who is in the prime of her life and is a vision of fitness?  She just got married back in October to a one of the best men out there.

While we all reeled from the news, J and her husband did what they needed to do and set about talking to their oncologist about getting J better.  I am happy to report, she is one of the lucky ones.  They got to the cancer soon enough and it hadn't spread beyond the breast.  Her prognosis is solid.

Sadly, the same is not true for many others.  This has highlighted to all of us who know and love J the importance of regular self examination.  She was very aware of her body, and when she sensed something was not right, she went to the doctor.  While we can't necessarily run to the physician over every ache and pain, we can be mindful when something doesn't seem right.  Don't let fear stop you. Being diagnosed with Breast Cancer does not have to be a death sentence.  As you have heard time and time again... early detection is so important.

I am so very proud of my friend.  She has handled this with great courage and great poise.  And I am really proud of her new husband.  To be confronted with this in your first year of marriage... well that is an extraordinary task.  They say the love, support and prayers of your friends and family can really make a difference to your health.  As witnessed in the life of J, I believe this to be true, now more than ever.

I swear I read some of these comments and I wonder did these mean people have parents that taught them if "you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all" I would have to say apparently not. If you can't be nice then just shut up. Michaela you are just as good as the rest of your collegues. I have watched the morning show and the 10pm news for years. I think they have the perfect anchors on each broadcast. There is just one thing I don't care for and it is how everyone talks over the other person. Michaela don't take any of the blogs personally these are just mean spirited people spewing a bunch of nonsense.

The key to peace is here! Michael Douglas Carlin is trying to achieve his goal of saving the environment and the economy. With his new book, “A Prescription for Peace”, this humanitarian is on a goal to make the world a better place. The first way to change the world is by being president, so Michael Douglas Carlin is a new candidate for president. To get more information about Michael Douglas Carlin running for president, or for his book, go to www.mikecarlinforpresident.info!

Miss Michaela,

You dear lady seem to be one of the most genuine news casters I have ever had the pleasure of watching work. I am no writer but these words just came to mind so I started typing. This is the first time I joined any type of online Blog or community I guess I’m changing and we all can used change for the better. I would like to hear what you think. Have a great day!

“We Want Change!” No longer can gibbering numbskulls be allowed to dominate Washington DC.

“We Want Change!” Have citizens in the US been programmed and trained to be stupid? They talk about, believe, and live by what others close to them say and do, then combined this with information from mixed forums of media and apply it to their own lives.

“We Want Change!” When was the last time you searched for the truth in anything and admitted you learned something? If you are between the ages of five and fifty five, studies show you would rather die living a lie before embracing the truth and admit being wrong about anything. Many sit by and witness others in pain and suffering over the smallest of things in life, just to be right for a moment time and place. Are you guilty of “Muting” others out and at the same time not knowing if you were right or wrong? Are you guilty denying other human beings the common consideration to share their point of view before you shut them down, out, and close your mind to anything that could threaten or question your own view point.

“We Want Change!” We find in the homes of 85% of US Citizens, family communication is lost or has been destroyed and along with it many families. Is yours one of them? Are you stupid enough to turn your back on your own family? Has your family been divided and concurred by computers, cell phone, text messaging, ignorance and stupidity? Your family is all that will be left, if that. God help us now that the life of a cell phone battery has become more important than the life of a man or women. Read a book America! Stop waiting for a so called friend’s marriage to fall apart so you can hear the latest. Stop waiting for bad news or you could be next in line.

“We Want Change!” Your Government is corrupt, and your friends if they are smart will become closer to their families and start to look for truth within what little is left of love and life. We talk about “Change!” You can change shoes, cars, and things. You can change your President and Corrupt Government. But for the love of God and Mankind stop changing your family structure. Stop treating your love ones like a fashion trend who’s hot, who’s not, and who is in or out. Stay away from the Jones if you don’t love them as yourself. Envy is dangerous, jealously can be deadly.

“We Want Change!” Start learning in a new way if you want change. Knowledge is a key. Love is a universal one. Do your own research with an open mind and share your findings with your loved ones good or bad. Then live, laugh, and love one another. Continue to on your current path and why the gibbering numbskulls that dominate Washington DC will be very clear to all of US.

“We Want Change!” Decide today if you want to make a change in your life. Then research both Barack Obama and John McCain. These are your presidential candidates running for election in 2008. Take the time to read all Propositions on the ballot one by one. To help better understand them use a Dictionary. Find out where the candidate of your choice stands on the issue you feel best sever the US as the great nation it can be. Share all the information with your family as the head of your household. Do not relay on your friends or mixed up media channels. Take action now start with your family maybe we can form a village then go big or very soon you will be part of the reason why and how the gibbering numbskulls which I will not named came to dominate Washington.

I do not want to influence any man or women’s vote by pointing out the answer. However I plead with all to do your homework America! We are a great people united from all lands to form one great nation lets prove it.
