AHHHH SUMMER!
8:41 PM July 9, 2008
Lazy days, afternoons lounging at the beach, sunset dinners outside. I haven't done any of those things! Maybe you haven't either but as I was hanging out this afternoon, longing to do something summery, I decided the best thing to do is break out the grill. I bought one this weekend at Koontz's, the best mom and pop hardware store in West Hollywood. I got a little charcoal weber that does the job. I wanted to make something lighter than a burger...so I found this great recipe in Martha Stewart Living. It's a tuna burger - I just made it...and it's delicious! (the tuna burger might be easier in a pan..it tends to fall through the slats on a grill but then again, that wouldn't be very summery)
Here's the recipe if you are in the mood:
1 1/2 lbs.yellowfin tuna, cut into little tiny pieces (or have the fish guy grind it for you)
1 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
1 1/2 tsp minced ginger
1 1/2 tsp grated lemon zest
3 tbls dijon mustard
some salt and pepper
1 tbls veg oil
It's best to chill the patties for about 30 min.
Martha made coleslaw to put on the burgers...I bought some. Whatever works.
Happy summer!

What's a tuna burger? Who in their right mind would eat a tuna burger. If I'm gonna eat a burger I want the real thing. Give me the hamburger!!
See that's what is wrong with the KTLA morning show, they are the fake tuna burgers trying to pass off as hamburgers. It is not working.
We want the real burgers!!!

Hey, Jess. Thanks for the recipe. We eat a lot of fish, too. Will give it a try on the stove.
Tonight we made Rachel Ray's deliciosa Renaissance of Tuna Casserole - one of her 30-minute meals. A real hit with family and friends. http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_33698,00.html

Everytime I read something from Jessica all I can think of is a still shot of her face and the sound effects sound of crickets.
All the crap going on at KTLA and she writes about a freakin' Tuna burger recipe.
We should just call them "Bimbo Burgers"!

Pathetic!

Thanks for the recipe, Jessica. I think I'm going to give it a try! =)

I think this confirms it for me now...... I actually miss Jennifer York (whom I didn't really care for too much) over Jessica "Hello, is anyone home?" Holmes

Jess,
I think you are wonderful!! Don't listen to the haters, heck they keep coming back anyway so who gives a heck, right? It took me a minute to get used to you but, you bring a nice refreshing style to TV. Don't change for those that keep coming back. I wish they would all leave and stay gone. But I guess as long as they keep peeking in every so often it does a body good. There is just somethig about your style that I can relate too. Heck Jessica think of it this way look at all the flack Katie Curic (Selling) has received. Just stay true to yourselve, it must be working on some leve after all they keep coming back...and you got the last laugh. LOL

So if I cook this, will Jess come and enjoy it with me? If you want some great recipes, check out "Just Cook This" on Discovery Health Channel.

I can't believe someone has just compared Jessica to Katie Couric! OMFG now I have seen and heard everything. She must belong to the same BIMBO Sorority. Kathy your spelling and your grammar are absolutely atrocious! Perhaps you and Jessica could take a Journalism course together - then "heck" there wouldn't be so many "haters" that you "don't want Jessica to change for that keep coming back, that you wish they would all leave and stay gone."
Try reading what you write before you hit "post"! If it's people like you that are her fan base - she won't be around in this business long at all!

I guess this is yet another reason why Jessica is still single. Real men don't eat tuna burgers. That and she won't shut up.

Thank you for the recipe Jessica! We enjoy watching you on KTLA and hope you'll ignore the negative comments. Your sense of humor is just one of your many attributes. Not too long ago when discussing Larry King, your referring to his "highway to Jesus" suspenders was too funny! Take Care!

Jessica, tuna is better for you than hamburgers as long as you only eat tuna once a week. It's nice that you want to share something with us, to reach out to us in friendship. As far as you versus Katie Couric, you win. You're more objective than Katie!

Sorry Jess - your blog is VERY uninteresting. Of course, you have the right to write whatever, just as I have the right to voice my opinion. You do seem like a nice enough gal, but I got SO tired of your lack of professionalism and seemingly immaturity that you are one of the reasons that I no longer watch very much of the morning program. If you can ever stop leaning across the desk like a juvenile or stepping on top of others conversation, you might be ok. It seems that you are not listening to any one else, just waiting to pounce to talk. I no longer watch the morning NEWS except for the first hour with Cher. Can NOT stand the last hour. Too much ado about nothing! Sorry, but that's the way I feel.

I can't believe Jessica's lasted this long on KTLA; She really is a bimbo; She squeaks too much; interrupts everyone and tries too hard to get airtime. Jessica PLEASE shut up and quit interrupting everyone. Also, when you have a guest on let them speak; we want to hear them NOT you. You are a typical blond bimbo...

Judy & Charlie - I couldn't agree with you more about Jessica. Those are my exact feelings and I don't watch 9:00 am either; too much nonsense noise coming out of Jessica; really immature - lot of growing up to do. put her back on the traffic report -

Quit picking on Jess. Its Sam they needs to go. He talks to fast and stutters too much. Sorry Sam but its true.

Some of you people are just so very funny!! & weird!! Who cares what they blog about. If you don't like it, don't read it. Who cares if a comment has mispelled words..none of us are perfect, I guess, except for the few who are knocking everyone else. You have an off button, use. You have a delete button, use it!! No one is forcing any of you to read the blogs or post comments. But again, it's a free world, that's why we all have a chance to say what we want. Jess, I love tuna & will try your recipe.

Hi Jessica, thanx for the recipe. I dont think ill make it cuz i dunno how to cook but maybe i can get someone else to do it. Im also sick of people coming on this website just to bash ktla and their employees. if you dont like it well then dont watch it and dont bash jessica either because she is a good person and is just sharing a recipe. ktla is a very entertaining program and and also keeps me informed on whats goin on. if you dont like it well go away and be miserable somewhere else.

Jessica,
Tuna recipe?
First and foremost, please understand my concern. The fact this is your FIRST blog in quite some time and you choose to write about a recipe you enjoy is very discouraging and disappointing.
True, it is your obligation, i'll presume and your decision, to write a brief comment or two about a topic that is of interest to you. HOWEVER, please understand, you are in a position that broadcasts to an audience with many individuals who have various levels of what is considered entertainment.
Afterall, in my opinion, you are in the entertainment business rather than the journalism biz. Therefore, different people will obviously, find different issues/topics interesting.
Different strokes for different folks.
Viva la difference.
My point is writing today, is to express my dissatisfaction and displeasure with what seems your concern (or lack of) for what bothers us, the viewers.
Granted, you will never please all the people all the time, but it's discouraging when what seems like the majority of comments are just brushed off as written by "haters" then one must look in the mirror and ask oneself "why?"
Are people really that mean? Are they bored? Do some individuals "get off" on writing vile comments to individuals they don't know personally? Or, is there a justified reason?
I don't know the answer and can only speak for myself. I am sure that if "back in the day" viewers had a chance to comment directly and immediately to anyone who is in the public view, that nasty comments would have always surfaced.
However, after re-reading many of the comments from all the blogs I would respectfully suggest that you take a look at viewer concerns. By the way, it would do WONDERS if TPTB would do the same!
In any case, I chose to write this off subject rant because like i've written in an earlier blog that we write and express our concerns because we care. And apparently we care A LOT! Do you?
As a business owner, if I have dissatified customers, I try my damndest to please them. True I will not please all of them, but acting on constructive critism goes a long way in my book.
In the future, write what you choose, act how you feel is appropriate, and decide what opinions are valid and which you should ignore. In my opinion, the comments expressed by people will reflect your decision.
If I may quote a famous line in the Indiana Jones movie... "choose wisely"
In closing, I am sure that the tuna recipe is excellent, but was it the right attempt to connect with the viewers?
all/best,
-m

I am curious as to how many of you would have the cojones to speak directly to someone's face the same unnecessary and rude things that you feel comfortable directing at certain KTLA personalities from behind the safety of your computer.
Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion but do you have the stones to say it publicly, right to your target's face. Some of you may; most of you do not, in which case you should listen to your mother: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Boy you can really tell that school is out for the summer. Some of you come across as tweeners that are just way over board on your "gushing" towards Jessica thinking "Oh, I hope she'll put me on her My Space Friends list!" if I say all this stuff and yell at the bad "haters".
Finally an ADULT (Mike) blogged in his very eloquent way and gave some very objective and constructive criticism.
Jessica, I really don't want to be mean, I really don't. I will try to be as constructive as Mike. One thing I would add is you have blogged twice since that "Black Monday" in March and it comes across to me as though you've blogged about the only thing you seem to know....FOOD! Perhaps that's part of the reason for the "Bimbo" remarks! How sad. If it's not a freakin' restaurant on Melrose, it's tuna burgers. I mean come on! With all that's happened at KTLA, with all the negative comments from avid viewers that are defecting to other stations, is Tuna Burgers really what you want to blog about in a 4 month absence?
Jessica, listen to what Mike has said, take into account the few good things that have been said and also all of the bad things that been said. We can listen to Tim's mother's advice "if you don't have anything nice to say...blah, blah, blah..." but there is also a saying that "the truth comes out in jest". So when your friends say; "Oh they're just kidding. They're just being mean, they don't mean it". Honey, they usually DO!
Some of them have been blatant about their feelings and their criticisms and they are valid!
When you were in the helicopter you were doing a SUPERB job. Your voice was an octave lower, you weren't hyped with your arms failing in the air, and leaning over the desk. You weren't interrupting the guests and speaking over your colleagues. You were JESSICA. Now you come across as a typical DUMB BLONDE sometimes. It's not even a character, it's more of a caricature of what you think the people want to see.
The majority of the viewers comments have all been the same.
So my advice is listen to all of the comments Jessica, and take them into account. I don't watch the show anymore - I just can't. It's the blatant "We don't care what the viewers want" mentality that has made me go elsewhere - don't join in on that mentality Jessica, you're better than that. Talk to Eric or Frank they both listen to those of us that blog, and they make changes or they don't....but they at least LISTEN to us and that's all we want, Hell that's all anyone really wants!
And to Tim, I think you'd be surprised at how many of us would have "the stones" to say this stuff to the faces of the "personalities". I've got the "stones" Tim! (Are you the same *#@%&^ that came on camera and challenged that in April?) Could you imagine if they'd set up an interview with some of us that were so passionate about our OLD KTLA? I'd jump at the chance to be interviewed by the ones who didn't think I was valid in my comments! But you see Tim, that would mean they truly cared about what we think, but that's just it - they DON'T! Be careful what you ask for Tim!
