Having lost a grandmother to alzhimer's, it's always in the back of my mind that I could get it someday. But our typical daily memory lapses are normal I'd like to say. I once read something that made sense to differentiate the typical daily lapses from actual alzhimer's. It's one thing if you go into a room and forget why you went there, it's a whole other thing if you forget that you even went to the room to begin with.

They didn't forget Jon, there's absolutely no one or anything, left for them to celebrate! The show isn't even close to the same as it was 17 years ago. If you read Carlos' comment on Eric's blog (the one with the funny video about seeing DOUBLE) - you'll see that Eric is the only one left from those days. Even Sam wasn't there from the beginning, he came in a few months after the start. Mark was there, but he's on "vacation" or job hunting, or whatever you want to call it, so it hardly makes any sense to celebrate 17 years with no one that was there who created the success they used to have! None of TPTB are even from those days - If they were they wouldn't be broadcasting the SCHLOCK that they are now.

speak for yourself (i.e. advanced years) i am from the class of 88 as well and don't consider myself in the "advanced years" by any means..... i have a full time job, 2 small children, and many other responsibilities as well... i just have to write a few more things down these days as opposed to my once photographic memory... albeit pre- children not because of my age!

I would rather see you blog about your community service activities (like the Methodist camp visit) and focus on those you meet.

The fact that the morning show has been around for 17 years and that I have been watching it about that long, seems like a good reason to celebrate! Even though the newscasters have changed over the years I still enjoy watching the program while I drink my morning coffee. I miss Carlos but still watch him on channel 9 (?) sometimes at night. Celebrate, but please don't let Richard Simmons dance in his short shorts again, I was glad I missed all of that dance, I was making the coffee that goodness!
