Michaela's Blog: oops
6:27 AM September 12, 2008
Hey my apologies are in order: you haven't been able to post your responses directly to the Fit blog about the Fit campaign but had to post them here. Our webmaster has been training me on the new set up and apparently we missed a step that allowed you to post your comments here. MY BAD. So sorry. Hopefully that is now rectified. And I'll try to respond when possible.
Continued thanks to people like Sharon and Kathie for the support I am receiving, both here on the blog (there are diamonds in all that roughness), on the street and in email. And don't worry, I'm not buying into the Hollywood aesthetic... not trying to become as some of you have said a "skinny Minnie" or a bag of bones or anything like that. Just the healthy version of me, :-) I also appreciate some of your tricks and ideas . It's always good to hear what has worked for other people. And Marie, I am truly sorry that your friend is having to travel such a road. Please pass along my very best thoughts and wishes.

I just want to know where you shop for your clothes? You look fantastic every morning, and I need a new look!

Michaela,
The only way to really get in great shape is to hit the spin class with a prospect of 1000 calories burned in an hour. It is the best workout for you given your injury and is a great way to sweat and zone out for an hour.

Well, all I can say is "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig!"
What? Oh I'm so sorry, I blogged that on the wrong entry! Oops! MY BAD!

If the American people want a song and dance cheer leader to great the foreign leaders in the White House, Sarah Palin is good for them, otherwise stay away.

Michaela,
I was trying to find your blog and finally found it!
I have been heavy all my life, born at the weight of 8.9 oz, and still carrying too much weight. I have been trying harder and I think that watching you work hard makes feel like can do it too.
Let's do it! GOOD LUCK!

OK, I know you probably don't want to hear about a diet plan from a man (we are able to lose weight faster, so they say).
I was topping the scale at almost 250 pounds and I finally decided it was time to lose the weight.
I chose the Slim Fast plan! You know 2 slim fast shakes and a sensible meal during the day!
Well, what I found that worked for me and I got down to 170 in less than 8 weeks was:
I would have a shake in the morning. I chose to use the powder mix with skim milk, and I'd use the vanilla flavor or the chocolate flavor. I would add a little vanilla extract or almond extract for taste and sometimes a dash of nutmeg and I'd use one scoop of powder to 8 oz. of skim milk.
Blend it good in a blender and add 5 or 6 ice cubes that made if like a milk shake and gave you more to drink!
For lunch I would have 3 boneless, skinless chicken thighs with garlic pepper popped in the oven for 45 minutes. While that was cooking I would cook onions, bell peppers, and fresh mushrooms in a little olive oil and then 10 minutes before the chicken was done, I'd add the chicken to the vegetable mix and voila you've got a tasty meal of meat and vegetables.
If I wanted a little dessert I'd have an apple sliced with peanut butter or once in awhile an english muffin with a little peanut butter.
For dinner I'd have another milk shake!
Once in awhile for a variation - the vanilla Slim Fast powder in 8 oz of fresh squeezed orange juice with a few ice cubes was just like an Orange Julius or one of those 50/50 bars half cream/half orange!
Then slim fast has these peanut butter bars that taste just like a butterfinger candy bar that I would have as a snack once in awhile!
I stuck to it and I walked for exercise. I lost 80 pounds in just about 8 weeks!
There you go from a Man's point of view on losing weight.
That's been about 10 years ago and I've maintained my weight since!!!

Michaela you are a beautiful lady. So nice to see a lovely & talented larger woman. I have never been a tiny lady & never will be, but God made me & my husband still can't get enough of me after almost 35 years. If you want to slim down, do it for yourself, & no one else. Good luck & God Bless.....

You know Michaela there are other things going on in the world. People dying in train wrecks, the election that will direct the future of this country, wars, people dying of hunger. But your blogs are always about you.
Why is that? Are you that special?

RE: SHOE SEGMENT:
Please do not say "these here"! You ARE an anchor and should know better.

I understand that 24 Hour Fitness is a big sponsor of the show but unfortunately, as you should be starting to realize by now: If you're on a weight loss program and you're not losing weight, then there is something wrong with the program. As we pointed out to you when you were kind enough to have us as guests on your show a few months ago: Trainers are not suited to weight loss, they're suited to muscle strengthening. As you see now, they can actually cause you to gain weight instead of losing it. So, if your goal is to lose weight, not just do more pushups, you'd be far more successful by following the program in our book and Dump Your Trainer.

Michaela, please tell your bosses that putting on air someone who makes inane, inaccurate and purely speculative remarks is an insult to the viewers and worst of all makes Emmit[a true pro] almost an appologist for what he had to go through. My wife and I,watching the coverage from different rooms, switched to other channels at almost exactly the same time because we couldn't take any more.We were hopeing that you,Frank,Cher or Eric would come to the rescue. We longed for the days when Jennifer was covering these major events. Thanks for letting us vent.

So nothing has changed at KTLA in the Mornings eh? Big Surprise!
Posted by: NOMama Palin | September 15, 2008 at 01:50 PM
Doctor Paulsen,
You are correct, Michaela will not lose weight (muscle weights more than fat). She needs to go on some kind of weight reduction program like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers to go with her work at the fitness center. And as you know with a women her age, it will be hard to lose weight in areas like the thighs, hips and butt, especially if the women has carried that weight for some time. In that case she may have to do surgery to sculpt those problems areas.
To NOMama Palin,
Are you surprised that there have been little to no changes to the Morning Shows. C'mon how many times have we heard that now? It's a joke.
Posted by: Mean Tristan | September 15, 2008 at 06:49 PM
No Mean Tristan. I'm not surprised at all! There was definite sarcasm in my comment. I'm one of the many who doesn't even watch it anymore. I just read the blogs and comments and can tell by the majority that it's still as bad now as it was March 17th.
Tristan do you happen to know what this supposed "award" is that the Morning Show was given? I saw an ad for it during Two and a Half Men but just caught the end of the commercial so I didn't see what "award" this was!
Posted by: NOMama Palin | September 15, 2008 at 07:02 PM
NOMama Palin,
All I know is KTLA won a Emmy for the Morning Show as best daytime newscast. Here's the poop. You have to remember, the viewers don't get a voice. If they did KTLA would not have won a damn thing. The Emmy's is just TV's way of kissing it's own ass. Just like the Oscars does for film.
LOS ANGELES -- The 60th Annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards were handed out Saturday night with KTLA receiving three awards.
The Emmy for the best daytime newscast went to the KTLA Morning Show. KTLA's Rose Parade Countdown pulled in honors for best entertainment programming and Joetta Di Bella won an emmy for best non-news writing.
Memorials were also offered for L.A. TV stalwarts Johnny Grant, Larry
Harmon, Stu Nahan and Bill Stulla.

My comment is to Dr. Paulsen. First of all, any good trainer would never give medical advice, you should do the same about fitness. If you were paying attention to the different episodes, (I've been watching them all) you would have heard the progress report. She HAS lost body fat. I believe a total of 5 lbs so far. When you lift weights you are not only making your muscles leaner, and you are increasing your bone density. You should know that Doc. I am a personal trainer as well and know that the best program will always include a reduction in calories and a intense weight program. Stick to reading your charts. . . .

This whole Michaela/24 Hour Fitness is a waste of air time. 24 Hour Fitness is buying air time and as such is nothing more than ads. They should be doing REAL news stories. There are better, more interesting stories in this city they could be doing.
Besides, this is misleading, not everyone who goes to 24 Hour Fitness is going to get this type of one-on-one training unless they pay extra for it. I would file this under "Watching paint dry." Get on the ball KTLA, give us something that does not center around your diva.
Posted by: Paul | September 16, 2008 at 04:27 AM
First of all, Paul. Where do you get your inside info on 24hourfitness and how this came about? You know for a fact they pay for air time? Doubt it.
What do you consider real news? Last I checked the U.S. has 60% obesity rate and this woman is setting a positive example to those out there who need to get off their butt and do something about it. Maybe they should spend more airtime talking about LA's upstanding Mayor.
Lastly. As to your comment about paying for training, when you drop off your dry cleaning or go to the Doctor etc. Do you get those services for free? Of couse not. Why do you care anyway? It's a business. So pipe down silly Liberal!
Posted by: Robert | September 16, 2008 at 11:12 AM
Let me guess Robert, you work for 24 Hour Fitness? I can picture you now, much like Brad Pitt's character in Burn After Reading. Do I know for a fact they are paying for air time? No. But I doubt they helping Michaela for nothing since 24 Hour Fitness is mention in the segments. In the biz it's called a plug.
As for news stories, read Eric's Marco's or Frank's blogs. They don't blog about themselves like the diva does. And if it happens to be about the mayor so be it. It more news worthy than Michaela working out at some over priced health club.
And yes I am a liberal and proud of it. You got a problem with that? Deal with it.
Posted by: Paul | September 16, 2008 at 02:13 PM
My little liberal friend paul. Typical libby response. Not happy someone else is actually doing something for them selves the government is paying for.
Maybe you should have taken your stimulous check and paid for a membership to work off that bitterness.
If you don't like it don't watch it? And no I don't have a problem with you being a liberal. That's your problem ;)
Posted by: Robert | September 16, 2008 at 04:16 PM
Well, Robert, it's obvious that you DO have a problem with me being a liberal and with liberals in general since you broach the subject first. As for not being happy, how is the goverment paying for Michaela's fitness training? Please tell me, I'm sure this will be a good laugh. As for watching the show, I don't, I have to be on at work by 6:00. The last time I did was on Labor day since I was off and I wanted to see if it had improved. It hadn't. But I stopped watching long before my work hours were changed.
If I am bitter, it's because of the asinine job republicans and YOUR president have done with the running the country. If they had done the job they were elected to do, there would have been no need to send out stimulous checks in the first place. But the republicans have sold this country down the river. Typical for a bunch of self-centered, self-rightious, self-serving, war mongering neo-Nazi's like Bush and his republican cohorts. I hope you take the same amount of time to look at the shape of this country is in than people at your health club.
Posted by: Paul | September 16, 2008 at 06:30 PM
Paul,Paul,Paul. You know that Congress and the libby Judges in this Country are the ones primarily responsible. Liberals are so angry and hateful. How dare you, no matter what your issues are, call OUR President a Nazi. So easy to point blame but people like yourself never have a solution. You Liberals will never get, that's why you lose election after election. To bad so sad. :)
