Michaela's Blog: oops
6:27 AM September 12, 2008
Hey my apologies are in order: you haven't been able to post your responses directly to the Fit blog about the Fit campaign but had to post them here. Our webmaster has been training me on the new set up and apparently we missed a step that allowed you to post your comments here. MY BAD. So sorry. Hopefully that is now rectified. And I'll try to respond when possible.
Continued thanks to people like Sharon and Kathie for the support I am receiving, both here on the blog (there are diamonds in all that roughness), on the street and in email. And don't worry, I'm not buying into the Hollywood aesthetic... not trying to become as some of you have said a "skinny Minnie" or a bag of bones or anything like that. Just the healthy version of me, :-) I also appreciate some of your tricks and ideas . It's always good to hear what has worked for other people. And Marie, I am truly sorry that your friend is having to travel such a road. Please pass along my very best thoughts and wishes.

So apparently Mr. Marc Paulsen, "MD", claims that working with a personal trainer will cause damage to your joints, spine, ligaments, and heart. Yes Mr. Marc, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of "MD" credentials you had. Now of course you don't have that posted on your web-site...but not a problem. Back to what's important here...you make a very interesting claim about using "workout programs" that are all media hype and not interested in long term health. The last time I checked orthopedic surgeons, cardiorespiratory physicians, and Doctors of all practices, have encouraged the use of physical therapists and personal trainers for the monitoring of their program. When was the last time you met someone who was trying to live a healthier lifestyle and had no experience ever living that healthy lifestyle, but all of a sudden knew how to live a healthy lifestyle? Well this may be a rather dumb question to pose to you, seeing as you are more interested in plugging your book. What else I find interesting is that you are only out to make a dollar. Those personal trainers out there that actually care about people living a healthy lifestyle, encourage all types of activities and nutritional programs. Remember "doc", what works for one, may not work for another. But at least Michaela is doing her part as a public figure in helping change someone's life. "Fit To Fit Her" or "Dump Your Trainer"...I always learned that positive brings on positive and well, negative...i think you know.

Robert,
It's brainless sheep like you that put republican Neo-Nazi like Bush in office. His link to the Nazi party goes back to his grandfather Prescott Bush when he was providing money through one of his companies to Hitler to fund the rebuilding (and the rearming) of Germany. Look it up, the information is there. And he's not MY president. He's all yours.
Osama Ben Ladin has stated he wants to bankrupt the U.S. Bush and Chaney and the other republican cohorts have helped him reach this goal and McCain being the fool that he is will continue with this plan. If you can't see then you are a fool and such hopeless. I won't waste anymore time on you.
Posted by: Paul | September 17, 2008 at 04:33 AM
Robert, it really sounds like you have a problem with liberals. What a shame you don't take a look back at your conservative cronies who are in charge of the White House. They promised to keep us safe from Al Qaida both here and abroad, and just this morning we hear of them bombing the American Embassy in Yemen. Heck of a job Bushie!
You do remember that Osama Bin Laden, you know the one that Bush and Mc Cain promised to track down to the Gates of Hell, yet that can't even find in Pakistan now. Oh, and Pakistan has vowed to attack our army if we enter over into it's border, just this morning. Back to Osama Bin Laden, you do remember his threat to attack and annihilate the economy of America??? It sure looks like that's happening now too - so much for keeping us safe here at home. To top it all off, you want to put Mc Cain who doesn't have a clue about our economy as he proved just yesterday morning in once again stating "our economy is sound", in charge? Then again yesterday afternoon, he tried to clarify that statement. You can't clarify it much more than saying; "We're screwed, and it's the fault of the Republican Administration". What kind of terrorist suicide mission are you Republicans on for this country?

Hey KTLA has finally listen to us, the viewers.
In today's L.A. Times, KTLA is bringing back the sweetheart of the Rose Parade, Stephanie Edwards. The powers that be at KTLA have given the boot out of the booth to Michaela Pereira. Stephanie Edwards will be again co-hosting with Bob Eubanks.
The story also stated that Pereira will also participate in a to-be-determined capacity, KTLA executives said. Oh, that doesn't sound good. Michaela you better start sending out your resume. Looks like writing is on the wall like it was for Willa and Bill. Maybe you should have started your weight loss two years ago.
Maybe they will bring Willa and Bill back. That would be great. This is the first positive change that KTLA has made. Does this mean there is hope? Time will tell.
Posted by: Very Mean Tristan | September 17, 2008 at 01:33 PM
Mean Tristan, this better not be a joke. Are you friggin' serious? YES! Well, if this is true, this viewer will again return to KTLA to watch The Rose Parade! Please tell me this is not a joke. That's the best news I've heard since March 17th! Let's hope Bill and Willa be returning. It must be the numbers are showing them finally what we've said all along. If they'd return the 9 am segment to what it was just prior to March 17th I'd come back to KTLA from 7 - 10! Until then it's ABC prior to 7 AM and then GDLA from 7 - 10!
Posted by: Dan | September 17, 2008 at 01:38 PM
Dan - IT'S TRUE! I just read it myself in the LA Times! We need to send their upper management a big THANK YOU!
KTLA you finally got one thing RIGHT! My family and I quit watching The Rose Parade on KTLA the year they stuck poor Stephanie in the rain! So wrong in so many ways!
Congratulations Stephanie if you should read this! Welcome Home Beautiful Lady! Welcome HOME!

It must not just be us few "bitter bloggers" as someone wrote months ago when we first started complaining about the Diva's attitude and personality. Evidently it must read like that to a good majority of the viewers!
I'm so glad to hear that Stephanie will be returning. Like you said Mean T. now bring back Bill and Willa!
Way to go KTLA - you did finally listen to us the viewers! That's awesome news!
Posted by: Sean | September 17, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Wow!! This is great news. Stephanie Edwards returning to the Rose Parade. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
Oh, I bet the diva must have had a fit when they told her. And to be replaced by someone who is older too. Way to go KTLA, you got it right for once.
Does anyone think it's odd that this news was in the newspaper and not posted by KTLA's own Sam Rubin?
On another note. I have heard that KTLA will be moving to the L.A. Times building downtown soon since the studio has been sold. So maybe with the move, the new/old changes will be put in place? Let us hope.

Now, KTLA should bring Ann Martin to KTLA to work with Frank for the Morning Show. I'd come back as a viewer if they did that. They can call it Water Cooler Buzz all they want, if they have Ann Martin, I'd be glued to the TV!

"no matter what your issues are, call OUR President a Nazi. So easy to point blame but people like yourself never have a solution."
Well Robert WE don't consider him OUR president. WE didn't vote for him, so he's not OUR president.
We have a solution, a very good one. ELECT BARACK OBAMA.
Quit being a Racist and a Bigot Robert. OK maybe calling YOUR president a Nazi was a bit of a stretch. He is a Bigot and a Hypocrite. John Mc Cain would be more of the same. Hypocrite seems to be synonymous with the Republican Party. You know it, I know it and anyone with the least amount of intelligence that's not a part of "no child left behind" knows it!
Posted by: NOMama Palin | September 17, 2008 at 03:23 PM
Don't worry people. There's still plenty of time for America to wake up to the fact that John Mc Cain doesn't have a clue. This economy ordeal will do him in. Obama's strategy is going to pay off, just be patient. Palin's defeat will come within a very short time too. It's just a matter of time for her husband after being subpoenaed to testify - and that's when it's going to happen people. This is Gomer Pyle of the Arctic. Have you heard the man speak? All he obviously knows how to do is to fish, ride a sled, shoot a gun, and procreate! That's it! Sarah Palin will be found guilty of Abuse of Power and if John Mc Cain's lack of sanity about the economy doesn't do his campaign in - Gomer and the Witch from Wasilla will!

CALLING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, A NAZI IS A DISGRACE, SHAME ON YOU!
I GUESS YOUR FORGETTING 911 AND ALL HE HAS DONE TO KEEP US SAFE. I MUST AGREE HE HAS DONE SEVERAL DUMP MOVES,( NO STUPID MOVES)BUT THAT DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO CALL HIM A NAZI.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
P.S.
WHY ARE YOU GUYS SO MEAN TO MICHAELA, IF YOU THINK SHE A DIVA, THEN SHE IS A DIVA, GOOD FOR HER!
Posted by: CG- | September 17, 2008 at 04:35 PM
To CG,
Just what did Bush do to keep us safe? He took some of our rights away. He weaken our National Guard and armed forces by having them fight a useless war half way around the world. Where he should have been using them to strengthen our borders and guard our ports of entry into this country. Both he and Cheney found ways get out of fighting for our country during the Viet Nam war (Even Hitler fought for his country). He's held people in prison camp with no trial or rights for no reason other than who they are. He has weaken our economy and destroyed our image in the eyes of the other nations of the world. Does that sound like a person who is a true American or has American's best interest at heart? No. So I have no problem with someone calling Bush a Nazi. He's more that acted like one. Hitler had Poland and Bush has Iraq.

Please help! We in San Diego County no longer get your morning show. We miss watching you every morning.
Posted by: Lisa | September 17, 2008 at 07:01 PM
Don't worry Lisa, you're not missing anything! Don't you have a new CW on FOX Morning Show. It was started by the brilliant people that were running this catastrophe here in LA on March 17th that we stopped watching!

Yay, Stephanie Edwards is returning to the New Years Parade! Frank Mickadeit of the OC Register has it in his column tomorrow: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/stephanie-ktla-parade-2161239-yeah-year
And it doesn't look like he's too fond of you, Michaela.
Finally, KTLA is doing something right - Stephanie has been a big part of the parade for a long time and I'm glad to see her return!

Seriosuly....it seems like 9/10 blogs I read are all negative or talk about something unrelated to the topic at hand (remember this is Michaela's fitness blog)...Didn't your mother ever tell you if you don't have something nice to say don't say it at all??? Sounds like most of you have been drinking to much haterade!!!! I say good luck to you Michaela....making fitness a way of life and becoming a healthier person is what it is all about. With obesity rates and healthcare costs at their highest, you are setting a great example!!! Keep up the good work =)

Please enumerate for all those reading the alleged "rights" the Bush administration "took away."
Posted by: Bill | September 17, 2008 at 11:04 PM
Donna,
Thanks for the link to Frank Mickadeit's story in the OC Register. Here it is:
Frank Mickadeit
Columnist
The Orange County Register
I didn't want to take total credit for getting Stephanie Edwards back on KTLA's Rose Parade coverage, but Stephanie herself pretty much gave it to me yesterday, so what the heck.
By marshaling you, dear readers, into a snarling, ink-stained force to be reckoned with, it's pretty evident I was the one who got KTLA to back down and this week announce it was putting Stephanie back on the air Jan. 1 alongside her old partner, Bob Eubanks.
Michaela Pereira's new role? You know those people who carry shovels and follow the horses?
The Background: Edwards had done the Rose Parade from the booth for more than two decades when in 2006 KTLA shoved her onto the street as a field reporter and put Pereira next to Eubanks. It happened to be one of the rare Rose Parades held in the rain, and Stephanie got soaked.
I wrote with outrage (OK, so did at least one other SoCal columnist) about the injustice. I got more feedback than I've ever received on a single topic, and I was happy to pass on the names and contact info for the brass at KTLA and the parent Tribune Co. in Chicago.
You deluged them with calls, letters and e-mails – and I wrote about Stephanie again on the anniversary of her banishment, further fanning the flames – but KTLA execs stood firm. They wanted someone they thought would appeal to a younger audience.
Then Sam Zell bought the Tribune Co. and KTLA got a new general manager, John Maczulski.
A couple of weeks ago, longtime parade telecast producer Joe Quasarano called Edwards out of the blue. "We're wondering if you'd like to return to the parade," he said. The three went to lunch in Studio City – Stephanie continued to live in the Valley – and Maczulski said, "We think we just maybe jumped the gun," Edwards recalled yesterday.
Maczulski heard what you folks had been trying to tell his predecessors: That Bob & Stephanie were a tradition and seen as a team. "Comfort food" on New Year's morning is the way, she puts it.
Stephanie got a two-year contract for $50,000 a year – that amount she asked for because it was what she'd heard Bob made. "They said, 'Stephanie, if you need $50,000, you shall have $50,000.' I almost fell down."
"I'm very moved and humbled by this," she told me.
Yeah, yeah, me, too. But what about myrole in all this?
"Your columns were so gracious and had such an impact," she said, adding (a little under her breath, I might note) … "yours and Patt Morrison's, really." Sure, throw a bone at the Times gal with the stupid hats. There's enough glory to go around, I say, being as I'm humble and all.
Stephanie will be 65 by Parade Day and will not have done a broadcast from the booth in four years. "I've got to get my chops back," she said. "I've got to lose weight and take vitamins. I've packed on a few pounds."
"Who would think a woman my age would be invited back. It just doesn't happen."
No, it doesn't. At least not without a concentrated, three-year media attack orchestrated by a seasoned communications pro.
Now, I know you guys don't give a rat's rear what happens to that home-wrecker Pereira, but Stephanie, lady that she is, complimented her replacement has having had to "jump into a maelstrom" and hopes she gets a new role. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever.
I'd written that if KTLA wouldn't put Stephanie back in the booth, the parade directors should put her on a float. No need for that now, of course. In light of the circumstances, though, I do have another suggestion: me.

Bill,
I think I can answer your question about what rights Bush has taken away. Off the top of my head is the right to privacy. Bush signs a bill that allows the Government to spy on the American people, and provides amnesty to telecommunication companies who aid in that eavesdropping.
The Government will now be able to collect personal information without court orders, civilian knowledge, or permission. I would call that a right of due process being taken away.
Posted by: Paul | September 18, 2008 at 04:23 AM
Kim,
Instead of calling us a bunch of haters. Maybe the question you should be asking is why so many people who have never met have the same opinion of Michaela. Maybe we all see something you don't. As for the fitness segment, it just a way of getting an infomercial for 24 Hour Fitness into the news show.
I can only speak for myself, but I have never cared for Michaela on the Morning News show from the start, I really disliked her when she replaced Stephanie Edwards (who I have met a few times). She never address the issue at the time knowing full well how viewers felt and that's when her diva addtude really came out. Now I feel KTLA is making things right.
Posted by: Paul | September 18, 2008 at 05:32 AM
Paul, I too have met Stephanie and she is by far one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. She's is genuine and boy does she do her homework in preparing for the parade. I used to work the front desk at a hair salon in Santa Monica back in the 80's. It happened to be the one where Stephanie had her hair done. She would sit patiently waiting for her appointment studying her script like a teenager studying for a final exam. She was always so kind, so interested in what people were talking to her about. She actually listened and conversed back. She was just one of the many celebrities that frequented this salon and she was by far the nicest. I'm completely jazzed about her returning to cohost the parade! It's about time that Tribune did something right!
Posted by: Dan | September 18, 2008 at 07:10 AM
Kim, I used to have no problem at all with Michaela. However, that changed when viewers were shown a terrible amount of disrespect after the Morning Show changes following March 17th.
When an anchor/host tells viewers to "get over it" about changes made to a show, that angered a lot of people. Couple that with the disrespect shown to viewers by KTLA employees who bothered to email their views and suggestions. That did it for more than a few people.
