Striking Writers Disrupt Wisteria Lane

(Toluca Lake) -- Writers took their strike to the set of "Desperate Housewives" today and managed to disrupt production.
It happened on a quiet street meant to look like Wisteria Lane. The crew had taken over an ordinary-looking house. They were filming a scene inside with actress Eva Longoria.
Suddenly, the writers appeared wearing red t-shirts and carrying picket signs.
They marched down the street with bullhorns. One of their chants went like this: "We write the story-a for Eva Longoria!"
It was a little corny... But leave it writers to come up with something original.
The production crew just stopped and stared at the demonstrators. They called in extra security, parked some vans in front of the house, and looked like they weren't really sure what to do next.
The writers kept shouting and marching. They'd brought with them another actress, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, star of the CBS program "The New Adventures of Old Christine". She came to show solidarity.
So you had a CBS actress picketing outside a set where an ABC actress was trying to do her job.
Pretty strange.
Later, Eva did come out to distribute pizzas to the writers.
On the street outside, I stood shoulder-to-shoulder with three paparrazzi. They cared nothing about labor unrest in Hollywood. All they wanted was a photo of Eva that they could sell to a tabloid. What a strange town this is!
