Writers Strike: Which Shows Go Off the Air?

6:54 AM  November 2, 2007

Writers Here's the basic rundown on what happens if the writers go on strike:

Late night TV talk shows:  Stop production immediately.  Re-runs only.

Soap Operas:  Go off the air soon after a strike begins.

Sitcoms and dramas:  Unaired episodes run until January.   A long strike eventually stops production.

Reality TV shows, game shows, newsmagazine programs:  Networks use more of them to fill the schedule during a strike.

Films:  Studios have stockpiled movies for 2008, but may run out next summer, if there is a prolonged strike.

You can also check out this excellent LA Times story for more specific information about individual shows.

You can be assured that in the event of a strike, we here at the KTLA Morning Show will continue to broadcast every weekday.  We do have "angry newswriters" but they are not members of the Writer's Guild, and they're not really all that angry.

Your Angry newswriters should be even more angry when Mark Kriski goes off-topic and makes some of the insipid comments he makes. Can't we trade him back to Canada for a weathermen to be named at a later date?
