For Sale: $24,525,906.61 or Best Offer
8:51 AM February 27, 2008
Seems as though everyone is having trouble paying the mortgage these days, even Michael Jackson.
You may have heard that his Neverland Ranch will be going on the auction block on March 19th, unless MJ can pony up $24,525,906.61 in cash.
FYI: The property consists of 2500 acres near the Santa Barbara County town of Los Olivos. And, as everyone knows, you won't be just buying land and a house. There are amusement park rides, elevators, trains, etc.
In fact, in the Notice of Trustee's Sale, some of the "extras" are listed:
...ferris wheels, carousels, merry-go-round type devices, indoor and outdoor gymnasium... sculptures, statuary, and other outdoor artistic creations... trains, locomotives, rail cars and other rolling stock...
Jackson must have set some kind of a record for spending money. I mean, he had some of the top-selling albums in history, and he OWNS the rights to the Beatles music catalog. The man has collected a fortune -- more money than it is humanly possible to spend. And yet, he's managed to do it.
I've been to the Neverland Ranch... or at least to the front gates. I've been there several times to cover one controversy or another involving Michael Jackson. It's located on a narrow road, miles away from anything. The exact address is 5225 Figueroa Mountain Road, in case you're curious.
The last time I went there, I stood outside with dozens of reporters and photographers. Some of the locals didn't like the media invasion. I remember rock star David Crosby (of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young) driving by and giving all of us an obscene gesture... along with some advice on where we should go.

"Merry-go-round type devices." That says it all right there.

Julie:
If you find that media is biased on any subject, let them know. Make your decisions based on your own research. Read from a variety of sources. You are the consumer. You choose what media products to consume.
On the subject of dancing, I'll keep going at the risk of looking silly. Thanks for watching.

Eric please help me. I loved your blog and this is the first time I bloged. I tried 3 times to write Frank. I got so frustrated that I turn to you for this question. Do you think the media is partial to Sen. Obama. My family hasn't decided to vote for yet but the media is irritating us. Give Sen. Clinton a chance MEDIA. What do you think and keep on dancing. We all love you. You make our morning. Marks blog was boring. Love you from Hesperia.

Looks like he's going to pay the taxes. In a story found this afternoon at CNN, he's acquired a loan to cover costs. Tho' I can't imagine he wants to live there again after all the controversy.
From CNN: "“Michael Jackson’s ranch is not going to be auctioned off at the courthouse,” the Jackson insider said. “The financing is all being worked out.”"

Well I knew I see this blog sooner or later today when I heard it on the news this am. So do you think as usual he will find a way to save the ranch.
Maybe he can propsition #8 the property and claim a loss and that may bring the taxes owned down and offset the money owed.
Many stars make fortunes only to be swindled and spend on lavish lifestyle. One thing for sure people around them profit and thats where his money probably went.
Oh well looks like he'll need to do a Osmond/MJ Tour to get out of this one.
I actually have always like his music and dance videos but as a person give me a break. I see Brittany and Michael as soul mates wandering the world doing stupid *:#$ and making lots of money for the press and magazine articles.
What would you do if Michael moved to your neighborhood can't blame David Crosby.
