Leap Day People Get Ready to Celebrate
8:15 AM February 28, 2008
Thank God for the internet... It allows all kinds of people to find each other.
I've stumbled across the website for the Honor Society of Leap Year Day Babies. Yes, it's a site dedicated to "leapness" -- the condition of having been born on February 29th.
If you go there, you'll find information about leap year day events, songs about "leapers", the whole debate on when to celebrate your birthday. Are you a "strict Februarian", or do you celebrate on March 1st in non-leap years?
Here's an excerpt:
If you're born on Leap Day... Welcome Home! Find other people born on Leap Year Day... browse the Honor Roll. Stay connected... enjoy your Leapness... read our Leapzine. Buy things that Leapify your life... Leap to the LEAP THIS store.
All I can say is: Who knew?
There are an estimated 2 million Leap Year Day babies in the U.S. The odds of being born on February 29th are one in 1461.
Happy Birthday to all those rare people who were born on this day.

Eric did you mention the Leap Year Birthday's this morning ? I emailed you yesterday regarding my daughter Laurie Lopez her 32nd birthday, although I didnot have her picture with me, I was hoping you would have mentioned her Birthday on the air. By the way I only watch KTLA NEWS in the morning you guy's are the best, and it was nice to hear Carlos's voice again.
