Sportsmen's Lodge Memorabilia Auction Canceled
10:55 AM January 13, 2009
The Valley's historic banquet hall at Ventura and Coldwater closed on December 31st, and some of the souvenirs inside were supposed to go up for auction today.
But at the last minute, the new landlord of the property agreed to buy all memorabilia inside the Sportsmen's Lodge.
So at least for now, none of that stuff will be for sale to the public.
But the PR flak for new owner/developer Richard Weintraub allowed me and my photographer a chance to take pictures of these items.
What we saw were dishes, buffet trays, tables, menus, photos of fish, fishing poles, and other decorations that hung on the walls here.
How many weddings, bar mitzvahs, holiday parties, and luncheons took place here over the years? How many servings of rubber chicken were doled out in the more than 60 years it was open?
It would be impossible to come up with those figures.
However, Ronnie and Nancy Reagan had their wedding reception here, many years ago. And stars like Sly Stallone, Tom Selleck, and Patrick Swayze used to hang out.
By the way, the new owner claims he owns the name "Sportsmen's Lodge" and may reopen the venue at some later date. He also wants to put in a high-end steakhouse and possibly a fitness center.

Eric,
This woman is pushing a scam. She wants her "15 minutes" for fame and money. It's my dime and I just say "no". Everyone should do the same.

I couldn't agree with you more my friend Paul. I won't even watch KTLA at all now! I watch GDLA in the morning and I watch Carlos on FOX at 10 PM.
I have no respect for KTLA left at all. What really bothers me is their total blatant ignoring of questions when asked. Not even Frank will answer about what happened to Marco. They wouldn't respond to Bill or Willa questions either. I honestly believe the lower the class of on air talent with the least amount of intelligence is what they're striving for. Watch out Eric, you and Gayle could be next, since you two are the last two that fall into that category of class and intelligence. They're treating this the same way they did the changes and all.
I can't believe they keep Elizabeth Espinosa and got rid of Marco.
Marco at least had "CLASS" and "INTELLIGENCE".
I'm done with KTLA and with their blog too. No respect left for them at all! They don't care about the viewers, they never have, they never will!
Hasta LaVista Baby!

Hmmm. They let Marco go and they keep Michaela. Yet again KTLA shows it's poor management skills.

Hopefully Marco got to keep the one clean shirt that KTLA bought him ...

Eric
Off Topic...What the Heck happened to Marco? His blog is gone, his bio is gone? What is going on at KTLA? Marco was smart, kind, talented and took an interest in the fans of KTLA. If you're not able to answer on the blog, would you kindly grab my email address and just drop a line to let me know why and where he's going to...thank you!
