LAT: Funeral to Happen at Staples Tuesday

6:45 PM  July 1, 2009

**UPDATE:  LA Times reports LAPD sources confirm MJ funeral will be held at Staples on Tuesday.

But just a few minutes ago, Michael Roth, spokesman for AEG, which owns Staples, told me the Jackson family has not yet signed off on the idea.

He says, if there is a service there, it's unlikely that it'll be beamed live on the giant screen outside to crowds of fans.

Roth says the LAPD doesn't like it when they do that for Laker games.  He thinks the police would oppose doing it for a Jackson funeral.

Who would be allowed to attend a Jackson memorial service at Staples, if it happens?

Roth says that would be entirely up to the family.

Obviously there are many that want to be a part of saying their farewells to MJ...the question is who will pay for all this? If they were to charge $20 a head, which I'm sure no one would mind paying, that would be $220,000 to help pay for the security, the police, everything/one that is needed to provide for this. Horrible to think about charging for his memorial but with the shape of Califorias financial situation it seems to be a win/win for everyone.

I already see that will be available 11,000 tickets for next tuesday at Stappler Center????? And I can believe this. Who thought that this will be enough. Why not let the people enter for one side and exit for another side and but no acces them to the grades. it will be very dangerous. I think nobody is thinking smart enough to avoid that something very bad happen.

i forgot:

with all the deaths.

Micheal Jackson trumped them all. he has the best death, the best coverage, this is the best reality TV i have seen. Keep it up America! Ur true colors are showing! Where can I call to vote on the best death? Simon Cowell, where are you?

it brings a song to mind. "PROP ME UP BESIDE THE JUKEBOX WHEN I DIE"

it seems even in death the popularity contest ensues.

the only thing i can say is I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE PALL BEARERS DOING a symotanious (?) MOON WALK WITH THE COFFIN DURING THE PROCESSION.

on the deficit: WHY ISNT ANYONE QUESTIONING GOVERNOR SWATZINAGGERS SPENDING? Where does the FUNDS to RUN CALIFORNIA come from?
What is the normal annual amount of expenditures ?
Where is the over expenditures coming from?
IS OVER SPENDING ALLOWED ON ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT?
WHAT IS BEING THE CAUSE OF THIS OVER EXPENDITURE?
S@@T FLOWS DOWN HILL... THE ROOT OF THIS CRISIS IS THE GOVERNOR.
BLAMING THE RECESSION IS NEGLIGENT.
BLAME THE BIG TIME SPENDERS.
ur governor is driving ur state into the ground.
he allowed the overspending.

MR SPILLMAN, FORGIVE MY CAPS, THE KEYBOARD IS STUCK. BUT CAN YOU PLEASE CHANNEL YOU FEAR MONGERING AND HATING TOWARDS THE GOVERNOR...
INCITING HATRED IS NOT A GOOD THING.

Taxpayers?

Your a good man, but thats my point.
lay off with the fear mongering and hating. ok.

Enough of Michael Jackson. I am someone would could not care less, and I do not intend to pay for his funeral. I will deduct the amount from my tax bill. There are enough "fans" who can contribute to the family to help.
The city should NOT pay in any way.

Bill wrote:

"If the Jackson family has a memorial service in LA for Michael where fans would gather, will the Jackson family or someone associated with them have to come up with the money to pay for police and security given the city's financial shape?"

Bill, that's a good question. As with the Laker prade, no public money should be used. The Jackson estate can afford whatever the cost will be. The city can bill the estate later.

If the Jackson family has a memorial service in LA for Michael where fans would gather, will the Jackson family or someone associated with them have to come up with the money to pay for police and security given the city's financial shape? If LA blackmailed the Lakers to come up with money for their celebration shouldn't the Jackson family have to do the same given how much Michael Jackson's estate is worth and all funds from the additional Michael Jackson albums that have been sold recently? Fair is fair. Or should LA just give the money back to the Lakers?
