Eric
I remember going to camp one year. I "HATED IT". Worst trip ever. It was a christian camp which made it worse, I mean come on you don't need the word of the lord preached to you every stinking day. Didn't talk to either parent for nearly two months.
In High School I had band camp in the summer (no not like Band Camp in American Pie, I wished it was). It was held in the school parking lot, it started from 8am to Noon one week in June and 8 to 5 the last two weeks of August. At least with this camp I could go home at night.

Camp Runamuck was scheduled opposite CBS's The Wild Wild West and ABC's The Flintstones and struggled in the ratings. Which may be the reason you didn't see it.
Here's another summer camp film, but it's not a lighthearted one. 1971's Stanley Kramer's Bless the Beasts and Children starring Billy Mumy. It's about a group of troubled teenage boys at a summer camp in the western mountains who set out to free a herd of penned bison before they are killed by hunters for sport.
I haven't seen it in years, so I don't know how well it holds up. But I remember the it tugged at my heart strings.

Never heard of it, Frosty. Ran for one season. That must have been the summer I yawned. LOL. I love Hermoiny Bladdley, so I would have watched a show she was on unless it ran opposite "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" or "Mayberry RFD." Thanks for the information.

Does anyone remember a short lived TV show called Camp Runamuck? The cast included Arch Johnson, Dave Ketchum, Dave Madden and
Hermione Baddeley. It ran on NBC in the 1965-66 season.

Before I view the links you posted about unfair treatment of vets we forgot the summer blockbuster, CAMP ROCK. Looks like fun. Hopefully it's available by DVD by now. Here's a link to the trailer.

Edwin H. Crosby III Vietnam Vet. explains the secret code on the 26,000,000 veteran's DD214 forms, and how it is used against the Veterans. Special Veteran's Forum April, 2007 Edwin H. Crosby III gave permission to upload this video. Website: http://veterancourtcodes.com/
Also want to say that if you watch the video..
You will learn why veterans are being denied benefits...
It deals with SPN numbers
Find out why so many Viet Nam Vats are homeless and on the street..
This is the type of News that Eric or Frank should be doing....

Here's another movie I'd recommend. Not a summer camp flick but a thoughtful film - THE MUSIC WITHIN. Stars Ron Livingston of OFFICE SPACE fame.
MUSIC, a true story, chronicles the life of activist Richard Pimentel, who goes into the army to earn the educational benefit. Ironically in the war he loses his hearing. Once discharged he's refused the benefit because his disability would prevent him from gainful employment. He goes on to fight for the rights and benefits of the handicapped. Because of Pimentel we have handicapped stalls in restrooms, ramps, wheelchair access, plus the government has become the largest employer of the disabled.

Hahaha. MEATBALLS. The trailer reminded me of Joey Chestnut, the Nathan's hot dog eating champion 2009. I think he ate 68 hot dogs this year to win the title back from Japan's Takeru Kobayashi. How can anyone stuff their face with so much food never tasting just gorging in the name of cash prizes and summer fun? One man's feast . . . famine.

Another summer camping movie I didn't expect to like is DADDY DAY CAMP with Cuba Gooding Jr. Lots of expected pratfalls and foibles, with a nice reminder about attitude and how we treat others, especially fathers and sons.

Recently bought a personal paper shredder. LOVE it. What a great toy. Anyway, searching through old papers and card to recycle. Found old camp pictures of my kids. Put them in a box labeled "treasures." Will have to pull out that box out next time they're home. What beautiful memories.
Remember the opening of PARENT TRAP where the twins meet at camp? Haha. Lindsay Lohan has never been cuter. The twins come face-to-face at 1:38 mark of the following clip.

Oh Eric, that picture of that boy reminds me of ME in 6th grade going to camp.
I love that t-shirt, I could've gotten away easily wearing that in 1966, being about his size....except...anorexia wasn't even heard of then!
I WANT THAT T-SHIRT!

Allen Sherman, what a walk down memory lane. The song is timeless. Thanks for the post.

Oh yes, Summer Camp..
Memories of lining up in front of the Bus on 6th street in Santa Monica in Front of the YMCA to go to Big Bear... We collected our camping gear for weeks before in anticipation and put it in anything from backpacks to paper bags and blankets to sleeping bags we would put in what ever we wanted to take with us for the week of an adventure which would last us a lifetime of memories..
making friends from other areas of the city we would have never met otherwise without the expirences of the adventure of the life time of summer camp..
Short sheeting the beds of others in the bunk and we would watch as we saw someone put the feet through the sheet we would all bust out in laughter.. Food fight in the mess hall... catching a snakes and showing your friends back at the buck what you caught..
Oh the days of summer camp where we didn't have the worries of the world, but the just of fun and imagination of youth in the company of friends...
