KA will be at The Grove tomorrow afternoon. Wish I could be there. I'd get my customary mug. Souvenirs always bring back the feeling of wonder and excitement.

Apparently, Cirque Du Soleil is coming to Los Angeles' The Grove on Aug 2nd. The show is FREE!

In the LA TIMES a few days ago:

"It seems to Culture Monster that the Grove shopping plaza is beginning to look a lot like Las Vegas, with its dancing fountains and enough Italian tile to rival the Bellagio. But on Aug. 2, the Grove is really going to resemble the Vegas Strip when it hosts Cirque du Soleil in six half-hour mini-performances, each representing one of the six permanent Cirque shows in Las Vegas.

"Very unlike Vegas: Admission is free. There will also be a circus play area for the kids, with face painters, jugglers and other activities. Visitors also will have the opportunity to meet and chat with Cirque performers. The idea, it seems, is that these Cirque hors d'oeuvres will help boost ticket sales to the productions.

"If you don't make it to the Grove, there will be no shortage of Cirque in the L.A. area later this year and 2011. Cirque returns to Santa Monica Pier to present its live touring show "Kooza" in October. And still in the works, L.A.'s first permanent Cirque show, an as-yet-untitled entertainment that will pay homage to the history of Hollywood, will open at the Kodak Theater in 2011."

I've only seen Cirque in Long Beach (next to the Queen Mary) and Costa Mesa (OC Fairgrounds). Remember seeing the tent in Santa Monica but that was before I'd been to a show. Wasn't really sure what that tent was all about in those days. So much opportunity for thrills and spills lost. Their shows are like Monet/Picasso/Gaudi paintings transformed into living art. And the music blows me away - so ethereal and surreal.

Next stop Vegas for Mystere and O. Haven't seen a Cirque show in Vegas yet. Every time I go to Vegas the shows are sold out. Really must plan my vacations further ahead.

Which shows have you seen?

I will that we both like Cirque Du Soliel when it was next to the pier in Santa Monica....

Jared:
Cirque is so best of the best. In fact, we hadn't been to a circus in years then my daughter treated me to Cirque's Alegria (still my favorite show ever). I felt the magic for days afterward. Only hope our little Jake feels the same about Ringling Bros., who puts on an extremely impressive show.

Cirque Du Soliel becoming so popular rbbbc had to evolve also...

As I shared earlier, we adored the circus. Lots of color, light, flash, sparkle, gorgeous dancers, agile clowns, glorious gymnasts, beautiful animals. Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus truly is the greatest show on earth, or at least for the milk-drinking set. Now I understand PETA has accused RBBBC of abusing their animals - using a poker to intimidate the elephants. Sad, if true, because the glee I saw today on a gillion tiny faces could never excuse sadistic pain inflicted on one of God's most graceful creatures.

Ringling Bros Circus is in Anaheim for the next week or so. Saw the show today. A total delight. Shades of Cirque Du Soliel with full flavor animal circus. Elephants, tigers, no bears, oh, my!

Kucinich: ‘Is the Fed paying banks not to loan money?’

Ohio Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich wants to know: “If [the Troubled Asset Relief Program] isn’t about keeping people in their homes or providing credit to businesses, what is it for?”

Expressing his frustration before the Government and Oversight Committee, the two-time presidential candidate suggested that the Federal Reserve may be paying banks to hoard money and avoid making loans.

Before the committee — which assembled Tuesday to hear the testimony of Neil Barofsky the Special Inspector General for TARP, along with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke — Kucinich wondered aloud if “banks are parking a historic amount of taxpayers’ money in the Federal Reserve while the businesses and consumers across America are starved for credit,” and whether the Federal Reserve is paying banks to avoid making loans.

Aimee Allen's "Unofficial" Silence is Violence

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_mRgyIUuBc

Another song
to signify whats wrong
Another sunny day that tells me
I must move on
Another cigarette, another cigarette will do
Enough to fill spaces between thoughts of you
I jump up and down for your attention
Rhyme after rhyme with you as my intention
I start fires wave flags that burn for you
But you don't notice do you?

Silence is violence
You don't notice do you ?
I'm trying to break through your silence
Silence is violence
You don't notice do you ?
I'm fighting but losing to your silence

Another time i reach but your hands not out
Holes in the walls that we don't talk about
Another is it me?
Baby talk to me
I'm losing it while you watch TV
What's the matter?
Can you feel me?
You bite your tongue
What are you numb to me?
What's the matter?
This is killing me
Do you notice do you still love me?

(With nothing,You just said everything )

Silence is violence
You don't notice do you?
I'm fighting but losing to silence
Silence is violence
You don't notice do you?
I'm fighting but losing to silence

The rain is the rhythm of my song for you
The puddles I splash in to cleanse myself of you
There are no rainbows you have no light
It's just me swimming in you, drowning in your black and white
oh it's winter, all my leaves have fallen off
There's no risk of fire but I'm burning
I'm burning, I'm burning

(with nothing, you just said everything)

Silence is violence
You don't notice do you
I'm trying to break through your silence
Silence is violence
I don't know what to do
I'm fighting but losing to silence
