Eric,
Did you see my comment under your "flu vaccine" blog? I was in and out of the mobile h1n1 clininc in El Sereno this past w/e in under 30 minutes!! Did you and your family get yours yet? Sorry to go off topic... I really don't want to pay DWP any more than I already do! When I think of DWP, and all their "wastefulness", it really makes me mad.

Thanks for showing that, Mr. Spillman. It is similar to the floodwater report Huell Howser did for KCET many years ago - we take our infrastructure for granted and don't think about how big or how much work is involved until it blows up in our streets. Or maybe until it blows *up* our streets.
I won't ride the Red Line because I worry about earthquakes every time I think about it.

Eric, Talk about wasting money at the DWP. Their talking about raising the water rates again to pay for repairing old pipes. You need to have the KTLA chopper film the DWP parking lot next to Beaudry Ave between 1st & 2nd Streets and ask the DWP why they have hundreds of vehicles sitting in the lot bumper to bumper and not in use. These are not old worn out vehicles their pretty new. I wonder how much DWP's transportation department spent on these vehilcles that are sitting and rotting. The only way to bring this wasteful spending to the public is by you reporting on it.
Anytime the DWP needs money "for whatever purpose" all they do is up the rates

Eric
I noticed that the people who live on Whittset seemed to say that the workers don't seem to be working too hard..
And i think you had said that only 17 miles of pipes had been replaced in the last year and you had said there is 17,000 miles of pipes under Los Angeles..
If this be the case that would take a thousand years at this rate of repair the pipes under LA....
even though i don't live in LA something doesn't seem quite right for those who have to live with broken water mains in the LA area.....
