Ron Paul is NOT Anti-gay his campaign manager was gay and Jewish Kent Snider..
For instance, here's a YouTube recording of an interview he did with John Lofton, a REALLY hardcore religious righter. In it, he defends homosexuals against Lofton's hateful rhetoric toward them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIeW0DY64bE

In a 2007 interview with John Stossel, Paul stated that he supported the right of gay couples to marry, so long as they didn't "impose" their relationship on anyone else, on the grounds of supporting voluntary associations. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJz81lAwY0M

Don't ask, don't tell
In the third Republican debate on June 5, 2007, Paul said about the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy:

"I think the current policy is a decent policy. And the problem that we have with dealing with this subject is we see people as groups, as they belong to certain groups and that they derive their rights as belonging to groups. We don't get our rights because we're gays or women or minorities. We get our rights from our Creator as individuals. So every individual should be treated the same way. So if there is homosexual behavior in the military that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. But if there's heterosexual behavior that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. So it isn't the issue of homosexuality. It's the concept and the understanding of individual rights. If we understood that, we would not be dealing with this very important problem."

On you claiming that Ron Paul is a neo Nazi..

Sorry Jozie, but I won't be going back to football or any other pro sport. I will watch the winter Olympics, but that's about it.

I do see your point about people causing trouble for no reason. But violence by supporters of sports teams dates back to Roman times, when supporters of chariot racing teams were frequently involved in major riots. I would like to think as people we can grow above this, but it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon.

I hope you and your family are enjoying the game. Take care.

Tristan:
Going back to football. Of course your personal experience has shaped your view of football=violence. And I can't say you're wrong. But think of all that's gone into the SuperBowl. We don't hear about riots resulting from those games. As for the Lakers. People, who want to act up, can find any reason to riot - a Laker victory parade, a soccer match, even a memorial service at LA Live (a concern that didn't materialize).

Ron Paul and his son are living proof that people turn against their country. The Paul's answers to their neo-Nazi masters. To support Ron Paul or his son is to support racism and anti-Semitism as well as being against Gays, non-Christians and nonbelievers in this country. Ron Paul and his supporters are enemies of this country and want to destroy it the same as Al-Qaeda wants to. The only difference is Ron Paul and his supporters are doing it from within, like an insidious cancer. A traitor to this country can be of any skin color.

And to set the record straight..

My Master is HIM Haile Selassie I or Jah Rastafari

What kind of racist statement are you making that if an African American current NAACP Chapter President disproves your statement of Ron Paul being a racist, you make an inference that they have turned against his own race?.

Your comment smacks of racism...

I would like to see you tell Nelson Linder to his face that he has turned against his own race...

First of all it was only Austin NAACP President Nelson Linder, who said that. And it has been shown on these very blogs that people can turn against their own country, they can turn against their own race as we have seen in Africa now. Does that make they racist or just self-serving? And the fact that Ron Paul himself defended what was printed in the newsletters till his people told him it would not be a good idea. Besides, putting the racist feelings of Ron Paul aside. He is still a neo-Nazi, anti-Semite, anti-Gay and an insidious traitor who promotes militias against our legal government and the disbanding of the union. He is a threat to all non-Christians and nonbelievers in this country.

perhaps you should read the Stats from the FBI about crime in Washingron DC which includes the same time period..

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/Cius_97/96CRIME/96crime.pdf

I guess the FBI must be a racist organization for publishing these stats on crime....

wadada

I guess the Atlantic was a racist publication also during that same time..
An article written by a JFK speech writer..

July 1995

The Crisis of Public Order

The Department of Justice now says that "stranger murders" have become four times as common as family killings, and that the chances of getting away with one exceed 80 percent. Scholars say the nation's murder rate may soon double. The author says we are inviting this "long descending night" of crime by teaching violent young people that "we will do almost anything not to have to act to defend ourselves, our country, or our character as people of decency and strength."

by Adam Walinsky

http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/crime/puborder.htm

The NAACP have read those newsletters also and still say that Ron Paul is not a racist..

You won't except what the NAACP says so you must be a racist....

Racist quotes by Ron Paul, Publish in his own "self-named" newsletter.

Quotes
"If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." - Ron Paul, 1992

"Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,' I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." - Ron Paul, 1992

"We don't think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That's true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such." - Ron Paul, 1992

"What else do we need to know about the political establishment than that it refuses to discuss the crimes that terrify Americans on grounds that doing so is racist? Why isn't that true of complex embezzling, which is 100 percent white and Asian?" - Ron Paul, 1992

You will come back saying that these are not quotes by Ron Paul and they were not written by him. But you must support your master at all costs. At the time, Paul defended the statements that appeared under his name, claiming that they expressed his "philosophical differences" with Democrats and had been "taken out of context." Now he has change his tune. Well, you can paint a turd gold, but it's still a turd. Ron Paul can change his tune and say he's not a racist, but deep inside he's still one. As well as a neo-Nazi, anti-Semite and an insidious traitor to this country that he clams to serve.

There is only one person here who fits any of those labels . . . and it's sure not me. As anyone knows here, I'm no supporter of the Ron Paul.

Oh and I have noticed that since the Ron Paul tea bagging ralles have been going on in Simi Valley the hate crimes against Jews and ethnic minorities have been on the rise in Ventura County. I find that a interesting coincidence.

oh yes you are....hahaha

In order to think or sound like Ron Paul, one would have to be a neo-Nazi, racist, anti-Semite and an insidious traitor to this country. I am none of those.

Jozie:

I am very serious about that. Look at the violence at world cup matches or here in Los Angeles after the Lakers win. A number of pro sports do promotes violence and aggression in some people, add alcohol to the mix and you have a formula for trouble. I played football in school, I know how I felt after a game and I have seen first hand how it can effect people. There are other sports that do not promote violence or aggression that are better for kids to play and that would benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Tristan:
Are you serious? Football promotes violence? I so totally disagree. My nephews grew up playing football. We attended all the games. Football leagues are a great way for kids to grow, form, learn to play together, etc etc etc. Big ups for the Pop Warner League. While I'm not a player, nor have I ever been married to one, and I don't watch Sunday football nor do I follow stats, but give me a good ol' football game and I'm riveted. Super Bowl? I'll be watching on TV like a lot of other fans. It's fun. Admittedly, football is a huge money maker and of course there's corruption . . . that happens whenever more than $5 is at stake (like price of a ticket or parking). Angelinos need a good outlet. Why not football?

Eric: Disregard my complaint. I used another computer. It's definitely my computer.

Someone is beginning to sound more like Ron Paul..

Jozie:

I would never consider a NFL Stadium progress. A new state of the art cancer treatment center like the one that opened in Burbank is progress. A new school would be progress. A new plant that provides clean power is progress. Progress is something that is measures by how it advances mankind. Football or any sport for that matter doesn't advance us anywhere. It plays to our most primal emotions. That's why there is so much violence after games. The only reason this stadium is happening is because of greed. The same greed that put this country in the shape it is in now. To support this project is to support greed and the side effects that it brings.

BTW, Eric, I still can't hear most of the videos you guys post at KTLA using the new format. I couldn't hear these or the ones Kurt posted. The commercials are audible (where applicable), not your reports. Tried using Explorer and Foxfire browsers.

Only 100 people voted for this measure to pass? LOL. Cracks me up. One hundred people may be responsible for a new wave of prosperity in LA, just when the city was about to go bankrupt. Way to go, City of Industry.

Regarding the neighbors who want to continue living in seclusion? Get over it. The rest of us Angelenos have watched the concrete jungle rise around us year after year. Why should they be exempt? Remember when there were actual orange groves in Orange County? And how about the stretch of land between Anaheim and San Diego? Remember when cows dotted the hillsides? That was then. This is now. We all pay a price for progress. If progress was good for "Jubilation T. Cornpone, it's good enough for me."

Thanks Eric for the reply. I know you don't get to pick your stories and the ones you do cover you do a great job at. I just wanted to let you know not everyone in this city are sports fans. Have a great time watching the game with your family.

Eric:

Thanks for the follow-up segment on the proposed NFL stadium in the City of Industry.

I realize that not all of your viewers may be interested in this particular story, but to those of us who LOVED living in the area this story is very important.

It points out that there is still potential corruption and greed active in local and state politics. When the citizens of Walnut tried to get an 'environmental impact study' done, their wishes were ignored and overridden by the Govenor (when he signed off on not requiring the builders to provide proof that this stadium would not create more pollution in the area).

Thanks again for the follow up.

I can't wait for football to come to LA! Still find it hard to believe that LA hasn't had a team in so many years. I find these stories very interesting and disagree with the poster who said this does not affect us. Football is big business and would bring a nice revenue source to the area. Geaux Saints!

Eric -

I appreciate your various topics, some appeal to me, some do not. But, it is your follow-up to the issues raised/discussed that I enjoy the most. Too often, after a story is aired it gets brushed aside and I don't get to hear the next step. Talk about a story that has a huge impact on all of us, this stadium/traffic and potential problems associated with should be discussed. thanks...

-m

Eric,
This is a perfect time for this story. I hope the RAMS come back. The pastor told us last week that we should wear our team shirts, this Sunday, even if they are not in the Super Bowl, not decided if I will be brave enough to do it or not. But, it is OK to have a variety in news. Thanks

Tristan:

As I am sure you may know, I don't personally choose many of the stories I cover.

I do agree that there are more important issues than the NFL coming back to L.A. But I do think during Super Bowl week, the topic is worthwhile.

Thanks for chiming in.

Eric, as news worthy the NFL Stadium is. I wish you would post about the more pressing issues the people of Los Angeles are facing at this time. Like how much money the city council is wasting trying to figure out a budget, the possible layoffs of police and fire personnel or the many companies who owe the city millions in back taxes. Or the fact the state is releasing inmates from prisons or that this city may be a target for terrorist attack. I don't care if we get one or two NFL teams, I am concerned about issues that REALLY effects me and I'm sure many viewers of KTLA feel the same way.
