Is Jason "The Bachelor" the "biggest tool" in broadcast history?
6:25 AM March 3, 2009
Talk about your water cooler buzz.
By now you have heard that Jason prosed to Melissa...decided that he didn't really love her after all; officially dumped her on TV, and then declared his love for the woman he had *already* dumped, Molly.
Great TV...but bad real life, especially since he dragged his young son into the whole thing.
What do you think of Jason? Why does "The Bachelor" have a horrible track record when it comes to real-life romance? If you were Molly, would you stick with him now.
Can't wait to read your comments....
Also below here, from "Entertainment Weekly," their summary of Jason's talk with Jimmy Kimmel on Monday.
......
Jason said that he really did spend the whole six weeks, which included Christmas, following the final rose ceremony and up until the first After The Final Rose special with his chosen gal Melissa. "What really happened is the chemistry was completely different," he explained. "The relationship was completely different...The conversations, which were so great on the show, were completely different. How was I supposed to lead someone on and keep going if it really wasn't there? That's the honest truth." He has a point. No one should ever lead someone on -- but where was this "gut feeling" on the day of the freaking proposal?
Kimmel followed Jason's attempt at coming clean by asking what we are all dying to know: Why the heck propose to Melissa in the first place if his feelings weren't solid as, well, the diamonds in her ring? After all, Brad Womack certainly didn't feel compelled to propose to either of his final two, so what gives? "[Melissa was] exactly what I was looking for. I had this preconceived notion. And on that very last day, she was exactly what I wanted." Key words in that sentence: on that very last day.
Here's where things got juicy.
Jason claimed that Melissa was well aware of the events that were going to unfold at the After The Final Rose special. "She knew," he said. "The question was, are you really going to even wear your ring because we're not together?...We could not see each other before that, so we had to have conversations on the phone." In other words, along with the hopes of his son Ty having a normal life from here on out, Jason signed away his right to privacy when he became the Bachelor. So he "had to" drop the ax on live television.
As for Jason's current love of this life, Molly, he said there's no talk of marriage because they are taking things really slow. Kimmel, of course, had some humorous advice: "But if you do propose to her, do it on television. I mean you've made kind of a habit out of it."
On that note, PopWatchers, PHEW! What an intense night of television. Now that you've heard some of Jason's side of the story, are any of you moving your sympathy votes to his side or are most of you on Team Melissa? Do you understand where Jason was coming from when he said he didn't want to lead anyone on? Or do you think that's a bunch of BS and he was just too cowardly to speak up when he should have? Finally, what the heck are you going to do with your Monday nights now that The Bachelor is over?

AMERICAN IDOL. The last night of competition. Winner will be crowned tomorrow night. What a show! All about Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. They performed in the following order:
LAMBERT – “Mad World.” Arguably the best song of the season. Haunting. Mysterious. Sexy. Murderous. Moving. The mist and lighting set the mood. I’ve been singing this song inside my head since the first time Adam performed it on Idol, and now I know I’ll be remembering this version in the future.
ALLEN – “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Languid. Sonorous. Nice version. The judges loved it. Thought it was Kris’ best song yet. Neutral.
LAMBERT –“A Change Is Gonna’ Come” … became “My Change is Gonna’ Come.” Interesting. Bluesy take on an R&B classic. For me, no one will ever sing this song as well as Sam Cook, but Adam Lambert will sing so many other songs so beautifully it doesn’t matter. Lambert is so today. Paula said it best: No matter where this journey will take Adam he will be “iconic.”
ALLEN – “What’s Going On.” More country than R&B. Less versatile . . . little off key. Not his best work.
LAMBERT – “Boundaries.” First song to be recorded by the next American Idol. Hard to sing, but with a little work Adam will probably change it up enough to do it proud.
ALLEN – “Boundaries.” Kris had a tough time singing this one, too. Kara said it started in too high a key. Maybe Kris had trouble singing it because Simon had practically crowned Adam when he sang it. Adam’s a hard act to follow.
I’ve been watching Idol since season 2 and this was by far the most competitive year. Matt, Allison, Danny, Kris, Adam are terrific singers who will change the musical landscape.
Best wishes to both contestants!

DWTS FINALE. They began with a terrific group Pasa Doble. It's not an easy dance but all three couples performed admirably.
Let's get to the real thing. All season the audience looks forward to the freestyle. By this stage the final three have mastered all required dances. The freestyle is their opportunity to let loose, show their chops, have some fun and bring us along for the ride. The last hoorah!
Mark Ballas, Shawn Johnson's partner, won last season with Olympian Kristi Yamaguchi. Their bop stole the show and the mirror ball. Tonight Mark/Shawn performed a stylized hip hop number reminiscent of America's Best Dance Crew winners, the JabbaWockeeZ. Gloved, masked, wearing hooded overalls they set the stage for an exciting pop-lock. And they delivered. Extremely energetic. Link to ABDC's JabbaWockeeZ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc1Jo1sXSLA&feature=related
Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani also chose a hip hop with lots of lifts and flips. The judges thought their delivery was disconnected, too much cheerleader, not enough dance. Strange, I thought freestyle meant anything goes. They were precise, dynamic, energetic and fun. Maybe I'm biased. I've been a fan all season. Tony has gotten close to the mirror ball in season two with Stacy Kiebler, but has never won.
Gilles Marini and Cheryl Burke. Odd. They chose a Flashdance theme, which as judge Carrie Ann Inaba pointed out, focuses on the female dancer, not the male. Gilles didn't have enough to do. He was the pole . . . there solely for the female to caress. Cheryl's first DWTS win, "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy," which she performed with Drew Lachey, is legendary. I can't imagine she's the same dancer that choreographed tonight's hot flash. Disappointing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OvqwJsNZVQ&feature=related
So it's going to be up to the fans to decide who should win. Gilles is polished, a surefooted sexy male lead. Shawn has grown steadily week after week. Her Olympic training a plus. Melissa started off late but quickly caught up. A class act.
Who will take the coveted mirror ball home tomorrow . . . we'll know in about 24 hours. Best wishes to all finalists.

DANCING WITH THE STARS. Tonight is the last competition. It's do or die. Will the winner be handsome matinee idol Gilles, perky-pixy Shawn, or sex-kittenesq Melissa?
Competition dances and final voting tonight. The winner and her dance partner are crowned tomorrow. May the best dancer win.
Go Melissa and Tony!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AMERICAN IDOL. Danny Gokey must be as shocked as America that he's not in the finale. He's never been in the bottom two. Not once during the entire season. But American Idol is a strange animal. Anyone can win. And in this case sadly anyone can lose. The judges were bummed that Danny was sent home this week. I wonder, if they had another Save Ticket they'd use it to bring him back? Unfortunately they used the only one to save Matt for one more week. So there's no bringing Danny back. While he's likely to go on, to make fantastic CDs, he's out of the AI competition for this season.
Last night, as the dust began to clear, he was interviewed. He started off ok, but when he said now he could lower his guard I thought he was in trouble. Thoughts of his dead wife, the coffin, the charity he set up in her memory were repeated over and over again. Unfortunately his audience, those likely to buy his CD, are tweens who've never lost more than a gold fish. How could they relate to his pain? Will his story repeated one time too many create a distance between himself and his audience? Where is Danny's PR rep?
Last night he was numb. In shock. Of course, he would be in the finale, even when he found himself standing next to Adam Lambert, who'd been in the bottom two a few weeks in a row. Last night Adam was more likely to go home than Danny. Unfortunately Danny's luck ran out. Today he joins Allison, Anook, Lil and the choir of AI alum getting ready for the finale and the tour.
While I wish Danny Gokey all the luck in the world. I hope he pulls that guard up once more, looks ahead and not back. The road back takes you home. The road ahead leads to the future, a future making music and a new life. And Danny Gokey deserves the new life he's reached for . . . because he is so beautiful (musically and spiritually) to us.

AMERICAN IDOL. Adam Lambert and Kris Allen move into the finals. What a season it's been! Go, Adam, go!!
Posted by: jozielee | 05/14/2009 at 12:39 AM
AMERICAN IDOL. Everyone is predicting an Adam Lambert vs. Danny Gokey finale, but I don't know.
Kris is wonderful, but I think we've seen his type before. He's sweet. He's cute. He's young. He's uncomplicated. BUT is he memorable? Who was the runner up to Jordan Sparks? That's who Kris reminds me of. And here's the give away . . . I can't remember Kris' last name and I'm too busy to look it up. Memorable. That's what you need to be a musician. Kara called it. At this point the winner has to be a risk taker. And in the song Kara and Randy picked for Kris was safe. He sang it almost like the original.
Danny sings well, but doesn't move me. Everyone loved his rendition of "???" but I can't remember either song he sang last night. Hmmmm.
That said, I'm expecting Adam to be in the finals and blow us away. No more safe rocker. Show us the creativity inside that beautiful head - the balladeer, the R&B stylist, maybe country singer. Wouldn't that be a kick? I'm still reeling from "Mad World" and "Feeling Good." And he did a sensational "Ring of Fire" and "Slow Ride" (duet with Allison Iraheta).

Sam predicts that Gilles Marini will win Dancing With The Stars and Marini is spectacular and has one of the best teachers: 2-time winner Cheryl Burke.
HOWEVER, Melissa still has a chance. If she can channel Elena Grinenko, Tony Dovolani's former professional partner, Melissa could win it. You see, Melissa has found herself in the bottom 2 a couple of times because she loses energy during the dance. If she can sustain the energy and "put her back into it" she just could win. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6BqfaNI1AI&feature=PlayList&p=8CDB0BDD73DB9C77&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=26
Good luck, Melissa. We're rooting for you!

Oh, no. Lovely Allison was eliminated from American Idol last night. She's going home for a couple of weeks. And they'll welcome her like a conquering hero, which, of course, she is. She was the last woman standing. The competition this year was astounding. And she's only 17-years-old. Big UPs to Allison Iraheta for being in the final 4 and for giving us so many exciting Idol memories. See you on tour, Allison!! Rock on!

PLM: In the old format I used the pull-down under "News" to navigate between the anchor's blogs. Many times the pull-down disappeared behind a photo. That was tedious. Happily it's been rectified.
Posted by: jozielee | 05/06/2009 at 10:15 PM
Now I'm confused. LOL
1. I start at the KTLA Home Page, then click the "Blogs" tab located above the largest advertisement banner. Top of the page. The choices are Home Blogs CW Advertise Contact Us . . . Digital TV). Once I'm in Eric's blog I navigate between Eric's topics using the Sidebar.
2. When I'm ready to read Sam's blog, I return to the top of the page and click the "Blogs" tab again. Select Sam's blog and use the Sidebar to select the topics I want to read.
I think putting two lines between paragraphs will add a single line. I'm trying it on this entry. Let's see if it works. Here goes . . .

Jozie,
I'm confused. Don't laugh it happens sometimes where computers are concerned. :)
Are you saying it's easier to navigate between Sam, Eric & Frank now ...or harder ? I find it harder to go between their pages now before the pulldown at top of page sent you to each of the host page groups, by clicking on thir indivdual names.
Now I'm using the side bar, and it adds steps. Do you know a better way? pray tell?
Posted by: PLM | 05/06/2009 at 01:59 PM
PLM, using the "bytes" as page breaks helps me keep order. Other than that change the new pages look good. Navigating from Eric's to Sam's to Frank's blog is easier with the tab top of the page.
MODELS. Agree with you about women in business. Models, singers, dancers have learned to diversify their careers. Oprah, Russell Simmons, and Puffy have mentored well. Here's hoping Lil Kim takes her new-found success on the dance floor into a clothing line, makeup, skin care, fragrance, exercise video. Keep it growing.

Thanks Jozie for the sound bytes:) I agree that from what I can see Melissa certainly does have talent. I don't most people know how hard it is to dance well. to keep time with the beat and be graceful. I give full props to whoever dances and looks good doing it! The one time I watched AI this year I saw dating chemistry between Simon & Paula..is it still there IDK. But those 2 together probably a short lived affair. I can't wait to hear Susan Boyle sing again so please alert me if you hear anything on that would ya?
Tivo maybe in a few months we can invest in one right now ..too tight. I should of said I get to watch ANTM every other week. so I do watch it. You gotta admire Tyra. Back in the day when I did a bit of modeling you couldn't really go anywhere after your look was done. but now smart girls like Tyra, Heidi Klum of project runway, Kathy Ireland, all types of product line success, Cindy Crawford furniture line and makeup.. kudos to the models. no longer are they considered dumb beauties with empty heads..Now these beauties are becoming some of the richest and powerful women around!
Still I wouldn't want my daughter to choose the career of a model. But I am happy they are successful.
What do you think of the new blog page setup? Other than the fact that there is no more paragraph break, and I miss the blogs pull down at the top of the page...I find it easier to load and use.
Posted by: PLM | 05/06/2009 at 12:00 PM
AI. Simon dating Paula? The mystery makes them more alluring. I don't want to know. If they are, poor her. If they aren't, they've mastered crowd manipulation cause they hold our attention.
DWTS. I dunno if Melissa is getting the sympathy vote. She's extremely talented and her partner, Tony Dovolani, is a sensational teacher. I think ABC is grooming her for big things, especially if she wins. She has the "IT" factor. And best of all, women like her. Jason did her a GREAT favor. From here on out, she's second to no man. She can take care of herself.
LISA RIANNA. You know she just did a Playboy spread. Last night on DWTS she was competing with a dancer trying out for a new teaching position. After her performance Tom Bergeron and the judges made veiled comments about "seeing so much of her." She didn't seem to appreciate their comments. What do you think?
TIVO is a lifesaver especially for the person who's too busy to watch TV. If you follow DWTS or AI you queue up after the show's ended, then fast forward to discover who's kicked off. I LOVE "America's Top Model," tho I don't watch all the time. A perfect TiVo candidate.
TV TIME. The only series that caught me this season was "The Amazing Race." My husband and I are hooked. I enjoyed "Boston Legal," but didn't watch often. And I've started watching "Amazing Grace." The theory that angels protect us intrigues me.
BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT. Susan Boyle isn't scheduled to appear again until May 23rd or so. Can't wait.
Posted by: jozielee | 05/06/2009 at 11:37 AM
Hey Jozie, Ya know I just don't have time to watch TV and do everything else I do. So I don't watch the hot shows that everyone watches. saw one on the AI so far this year and that's a first for me. Dancing with the Stars? saw one of them also this year so already I'm ahead of last year with my viewing. I seem to catch shows once they move to syndication. Fell in love with Raymond..until I finally believe I saw them all..then it was Reba...love her wit the show is very well cast. my daughter loves her younger daughter's character..uh-oh!
And Boston Legal... my husband and I always loved but can't find time to commit. Now I believe they show 3 episodes in a row on Tuesday night..talk about sucking the hours right out of your night! But that is such a clever and well written show. Boy Captain Kirk (now Denny Crane) certainly did keep his career going after Star Trek. HIs won countless emmy's for the outrageous character he now plays. He and James Spader (Alan Shore) who is also excellent in his part...and all the staff of Crane, Poole, and Schmidt never fail to entertain!
The one show I do try to catch is America's Next top Model. But my kids have extra curriculum classes till 8pm on Wednesdays so it makes it difficult to catch. No I have not did the TIVo thing yet..probably one of the few who have not..but since we are not slaves to TV ..it hasn't seemed necessary yet.
In regard to AI and dancing with Stars...I can truly see during Sam's morning highlights how talented they all are. I hope the jilted girlfriend of the bachelor wins. I think she is getting the "you show em- girl- vote" in my opinion anyway. Since you are watching both of these shows... Who do you think will win on dancing and AI? Also any new news on Susan Boyle?
I read Simon wants out of his AI contract and that he is much nicer to britain's got talent contestants than he is to AI contestants. He is certainly more handsome when you see him smiling in the UK than scowling in the US. I think he's dating Paula right now...what do you think?
Posted by: PLM | 05/06/2009 at 10:45 AM
And speaking of Jason, the tool, the girl he dumped . . . Melissa Rycroft . . . is burning up the dance floor at "Dancing With The Stars." She's currently in the final 4. She's the first this season to earn a score of 3-10s, a perfect score. Tonight, she and her partner, Tony Dovolani, were asked to reprise their winning Samba. YEAH, Melissa. http://www.buddytv.com/melissa-bachelor13.aspx

PLM: When I read INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE, 10 years ago, I couldn't put it down. Read it cover to cover in one night. And I swore it would be my last venture into that macabre world. (Images of the vampire opera still haunt me.) Then the movie came out. Anne Rice, the author, was skeptical of how Tom Cruise would interpret her main character. She loved it. So I saw the film. But that was it for me. No more vampires. When my sister told me about TWILIGHT I wasn't interested. But it nagged at me, so I rented the movie. The world of the living dead isn't my cup of tea, but the romance captivated me. Doubt if I'll read the books. My sister can't loan them to me - they're on her Kindle. Maybe one day I'll find it at the library.
Posted by: jozielee | 05/06/2009 at 01:26 AM
oooo- a conversation... on a back blog page... I'll chime in!
Hey Jozie my daughter refused to see the Twilight films. she read all the huge books I think 3 books so far in record time.
But she said the movie from what she could surmise was not true to the books so she didn't want to see it even though every teen in America was going crazy for it.
That works for me..I don't need to spend the money or have my teen enthralled in this vampire non- sense.
you remember when we were kids if you were a vampire fan..you were just plain weird and scary. Well I don't care how popular it is.. vampire obsession is weird. no matter how you slice it... or should I say bite it!

Has anyone seen TWILIGHT?
Rented TWILIGHT this weekend. Waited til midnight to pop into the DVD player. Wonderful story. Romantic to the core. Perfectly pitched sexual tension. Great characters. The two leads are perfectly pale, wafer thin and sock-eyed enough to make them believable vampires. Erie. What a ride. Can't wait for next installment.
