Cool April Weather Continues
7:00 AM April 27, 2009
Unusually cool April weather is forecast to continue through midweek. A trough of low pressure is currently dropping into the Northern California. This morning we’re starting out with mostly cloudy skies over much of the Southland. There is also some patchy fog. After the marine layer clouds dissipate, partly cloudy skies will be with us for the remainder of the day. Temperatures are going to continue below normal, ranging from the lower 60’s at the beaches to the lower 70’s in the warmer valleys.
Tomorrow the trough moves into the Great Basin and this will increase the onshore flow. Early tomorrow there’s going to be plenty of low clouds and fog, along with areas of drizzle. By afternoon expect partial clearing, continued below normal temps and gusty winds. Wind advisories may be needed for the high deserts and for the mountains.
By Wednesday the trough is forecast to exit the region and temperatures should begin to recover. Firstly, morning clouds will give way to mostly clear skies. Weak ridging of high pressure should allow the mercury to warm at least a few degrees. Improving weather is also forecast Thursday as mostly sunny skies and mild temperatures are expected. A few valley locations may top out at 80 degrees.
